Sharon Stone is a famous name in the entertainment industry. The actress went through a difficult time in 2001 when she was rushed to the hospital after suffering a brain hemorrhage that lasted nine days. Stone, at The Hollywood Reporter’s Raising Our Voices event, opened up about the medical emergency that cost her her acting career.

The Basic Instinct star said, “I had a stroke in 2001, I had a one percent chance of survival, I had a 9-day brain bleed.”
She also recalled being scared to tell anyone in the industry. “When it first happened, I didn’t want to tell anybody because you know if something goes wrong with you, you’re out,” the 65-year-old said.

Stone’s medical emergency compelled her to step away from the silver screen for two years. However, these two years soon turned into a much longer, unwelcome break.
The Academy Award nominee said, “I recovered for seven years, and I haven’t had jobs since. Something went wrong with me – I’ve been out for 20 years.”

Stone was a very big movie star at one point in her life, but the stroke affected her acting career. After the stroke, the 65-year-old went on to star in films such as Catwoman, Lovelace, and The Laundromat. She was not nominated for an Academy Award or a Golden Globe award since her health complications.
