During an interview with a reputed media outlet, the Avatar actor spoke about bidding goodbye to one of the most significant characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Zoe Saldana had announced that with the Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 she would not be reprising the role of Gamora.

Zoe Saldana Gets Emotional After Retiring As Gamora From The Guardians Of The Galaxy Franchise

During an interview with The Direct, Zoe Saldana poured her heart out while talking about her retirement from the billion-dollar franchise Guardians Of The Galaxy. In between the conversation, she pointed out that the character of Gamora had an impact on her children. She said-

“To live within the Marvel universe has been nothing but a treat. It’s a part of my legacy that I will so proudly take on with me, and I hope that my children are proud. I have three little boys, and they are already becoming die-hard fans of these characters.”

According to the actor, she felt lucky to be around the Marvel family, during the filming of the Guardians Of The Galaxy, she said-

“It makes me feel really good. It makes me feel lucky. It makes me feel fortunate. It makes me feel proud, to know so many people that I look up to and I respect deeply that live also in this universe, among me.”

She expressed her gratitude towards James Gunn through  a video, in which she mentioned-

“Every time I feel like I’m about to fall out of my sorts, I look around and I see people that I’ve up so much to be here because they have a true passion, a genuine, sincere love for what we do, and that always reminds me that we are very blessed and very lucky and very fortunate to be here. And I want to thank you because you have been a wonderful person. You believed in me before I even believed in myself. So thank you for sticking by me, and…I’m gonna miss Gamora, but I’m not gonna miss the four-hour makeup.”

The actor got emotional as the Chris Pratt-led franchise comes to an end after its final run with the third installment of Guardians Of The Galaxy in 2023.

Zoe Saldana On What Attracted Her Towards The Character Of Gamora

During an interview with the reputed media platform, Collider in 2014, Zoe Saldana spoke about one of the most significant characters of the Guardians Of The Galaxy franchise. She was asked about what attracted her to the character of Gamora, and she said-

“My nephew’s 11, he’s the only person that I know that reads Guardians, everybody else I’ve met, they read comics but my nephew was the closest one.  I would ask him on his little IM—so funny—and he asked me, “Who do you think Gamora is?”  And I said, “She’s a warrior.”

She further explained-

“He goes, “Yeah.  But not only is she a warrior, she’s an assassin and she’s very lethal but what saves her is the same thing that can doom her.  She has a sense of righteousness.  She’s a very righteous individual.”  And that was coming from an 11-year-old boy.  I was just like, “That’s it!  That’s gonna be like the overall mojo of Gamora; her sense of always wanting to do the right thing.”

The third installment of the James Gunn-led franchise made $844.86 million worldwide, against a budget of $250 million. With an IMDb rating of 7.9 out of 10, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 3 is currently available on Disney+.
