Gosling and Mendes have been happily together since 2011 and share two daughters. The couple fell in love while filming The Place Beyond the Pines. In the film, the couple portrayed the role of parents, which gave an insight into Gosling having a family with his partner Mendes.
Ryan Gosling’s View on Parenthood
The romance that blossoms on the sets of The Place Beyond the Pines is at a great height today. Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes first crossed paths while working on a film. Both of them certainly had no idea what this movie had in store for them. Especially Gosling, whose perspective on parenthood drastically changed after he met Mendes.

During a conversation with a news outlet, Gosling admitted that the idea of becoming a father never crossed his mind before he met his long-time girlfriend, Mendes. He said,
“I wasn’t thinking about kids before I met her, but after I met Eva, I realized that I just didn’t want to have kids without her. And there were moments on The Place Beyond the Pines where we were pretending to be a family, and I didn’t really want it to be pretend anymore. I realized that this would be a life I would be really lucky to have.”
Manifestation indeed worked for Gosling, as today he shares a family with Mendes that includes his two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada.
Ryan Gosling opened up about prioritizing family
Ryan Gosling has had many hit films throughout his acting career. The heartthrob of Hollywood saw a meteoric rise in his career after starring in movies like La La Land and Drive. Although after filming Neil Armstrong’s biopic, The First Man, Gosling disappeared from the film industry, the reason for his temporary retirement was his family. After welcoming his second daughter in 2016, the 42-year-old actor decided to take a break from his busy schedule and spend time with his family.
Gosling opened up about how things shifted for him when he was away from the spotlight. He emphasized that being out of work made it easier for him to figure out his priorities in life. Referring to his duty as a father, the actor said,
“I treat it more like work now and not like it’s, you know, therapy. It’s a job, and I think in a way that allows me to be better at it because there’s less interference.”
After a long break of four years, Ryan Gosling is all set to make a major comeback with his upcoming film Barbie. Ryan Gosling will be seen portraying the role of Ken alongside Margot Robbie, who is the lead protagonist of the film.
Barbie will mark its release on July 21, 2023.
