Johnny Depp paid $25,000 for his love of art
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor was reportedly a fan of the street artist named Pegasus who is famous for making artwork inspired by pop culture icons. According to a report by Huffington Post, Johnny Depp paid a huge amount for the painting of a nude pregnant Kate Middleton with a crown on the belly. The actor also wanted a logo of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones on the belly and paid around $25,000 just for the painting.
What was the painting about?
The painting shows the Duchess of Cambridge and the wife of Prince William, Catherine smiling with a small crown resting on top of her 6-months pregnancy baby bump. Pegasus had a spray-painted picture of the pregnant Catherine in his graffiti collection in Islington, London. Reportedly, the offer by Johnny Depp was his most expensive sale.
According to the report, Pegasus’s manager, Leonard Villa, said,
“I knew Johnny was coming and wanted the two Kate Middleton works. He was extremely charming and immediately bought the painting and put down an offer for the second one.”
