Amid her recent breakup news, Taylor Swift’s back-and-forth relationship with John Mayer is making headlines. John Mayer Was Humiliated By Taylor Swift’s Dear John
Linked with John Mayer after collaborating on his single Half of My Heart between 2009-10, Taylor Swift dated him for a brief period. Recalling being “such a big fan of John for such a long time” Swift was “really excited” to work with him. The songstress being 19, and Mayer being 32 at that time, the couple had a bit of a whirlwind relationship, until things turned sour.
Having a great time together, the singers supposedly inspired each other to write songs. However, their post-break-up songs became hits when Taylor Swift released Dear John (2010) and John Mayer released Paper Doll (2013), evidently dedicated to each other. But, fans were quick to point out how Paper Doll sounded like he wrote while being “pissed off” at Swift.
Addressing his song, the singer claimed, “I don’t really like ‘pissed off’ as a song… there’s something about it that’s a little b*tchy.” Later confessing about feeling “humiliated” by Swift’s Dear John, the New Light singer came up with his 2013 Paper Doll.

John Mayer’s Revenge Lyrics For Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift is notoriously known for dropping hints through her songs regarding her previous relationships. Don’t know about others, but John Mayer was quick to pick up the clues. Realizing the sugar-coated hatred behind the 2010 released Dear John, Mayer wrote Paper Doll in 2013 inspired by Swift. Sitting for an interview with Rolling Stones, in 2012, the Gravity singer admitted feeling “humiliated” by Taylor Swift’s post-breakup song.
“I’m pretty good at taking accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that,” Mayer stated during the interview. He further added, “It was a pretty lousy thing for her to do”. Thus, the singer decided to write Paper Doll in 2013, as a subtle dedication to his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.
“When ‘Paper Doll’ came out, 100 percent of the people believed it was about somebody,” the 45-year-old singer opened up during an Instagram live. “The person that they thought it was about brought a certain amount of a superficial pop culture back and forth,” Mayer further added.
After writing revenge lyrics out of humiliation, John Mayer not only satisfied his purpose but also successfully annoyed a lot of Swifties.
