Sydney Sweeney has had a gutsy and commendable career and has already starred in several hit projects at twenty-five. But it hasn’t been a cakewalk for her. The Euphoria star had opened up about the struggles of being overtly objectified because of her physique. However, there is also another struggle that people don’t associate with Hollywood stars – financial trouble. Sweeney revealed in an interview last year that becoming an actress was a desperate move to buy back her family home and get her parents back together.

Sydney Sweeney revealed the pay she got for playing Cassie Howard on the hit HBO series Euphoria. She reportedly received $350,000 to make her return in the second season of the show. During the first season, the 25-year-old was paid around $25,000 per episode thus bringing her total pay for season one to $200,000 as reported by World Celebs.

It might seem a lot to us but the actress herself revealed that her salary is not enough for her to pay out her team and maintain the kind of lifestyle she’s supposed to. She claimed that after paying her due remunerations, there is hardly anything left for her and she couldn’t take a break from work if she so desired.

In a conversation with Hollywood Reporter back in 2022, The White Lotus actor said,

“If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don’t have income to cover that. I don’t have someone supporting me. They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals.”

Clearly, all that glitters is not so much gold.

About the expenses of being an actor in this industry, Sweeney said,

“The established stars still get paid, but I have to give five percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, three percent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month and that’s more than my mortgage.”

The Handmaid’s Tale star further revealed that taking on sponsorship projects and partnerships is a conscious decision on her part to make ends meet for her. She is a part of numerous major beauty and fashion brands like Armani and Miu Miu. She claimed,

“If I just acted, I wouldn’t be able to afford my life in L.A. I take deals because I have to.”

The Everything Sucks actor shared the reason for embarking upon her career in showbiz. When she was 13 years old, the Sweeney family had to leave their LA home and move into a motel because they couldn’t afford the extravagant cost of living. They later moved back to Washington. About the whole situation, she revealed,

“I thought that if I made enough money, I’d be able to buy my parents’ house back and that I’d be able to put my parents back together. But when I turned 18, I only had $800 to my name. My parents weren’t back together and there was nothing I could do to help.”

Sweeney’s next major role is in the Spider-Man franchise as Julia Carpenter in Marvel’s Madame Web.
