“I only want to be referred to as THEE MOTHER”: Buffy Star Sarah Michelle Gellar is Celebrating Being Branded as ‘Mother’ by LGBTQ+ Community
After starring in the 1997 teen drama series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar is back with yet another supernatural series Wolf Pack in 2023. Her previous series based on a comic was an epic hit, especially in the modern era with its metaphor for being closeted. Buffy’s development in the comics as a gender-fluid queer hero happened way before the binaries made it to the mainstream media.
Therefore, Gellar was considered an icon by the LGBTQ+ community soon after she returned with another supernatural series. The actress addressed her status of being referred to as a “gay icon” with pride. No puns intended.
Sarah Michelle Gellar Embraces Her Gay Icon Status
The Golden Globe nominee and Vampire slaying queen, Sarah Michelle Gellar is back with her new supernatural series Wolf Pack. During the promotion of her series earlier this year, the 45-year-old was introduced to the meaning of “Mother” in the LGBTQ+ community. Further, the queen was offered the status of being a “gay icon”, which she embraced with grace and inspired the pride community to slay.
Later on, in another interview with Gay Times, Sarah Michelle Gellar was asked about her opinion on being a gay icon, to which she stated her recently acquired knowledge about the term MOTHER. The term, typically used to determine a pride community, appreciates female icons in the entertainment sector, which is cherished by Gellar. The LGBTQ+ community was thrilled with the newly enlightened actress, who appreciated their status.
Sarah Michelle Gellar Celebrates Her Status As A MOTHER

Further, the actress shared, “from now on, I only wanna be referred to as THEE MOTHER, not just mother. I might actually change it to thee mother”. She was also asked about her husband, Freddie Prinze Jr’s opinion on her title. Gellar continued, “This is a community that has supported me in all of the jobs that I’ve done, whether they have been successful or not, and so I’m incredibly grateful.” Although the actress gained her fame in the pride community through her work as Buffy, it wasn’t entirely about s*xual identity. Gellar elaborated, her character was about coming out as the person one truly believes they are. So it could be a metaphor for coming out of the closet.
But all things said and done, THEE MOTHER was successful in promoting her new series Wolf Pack, for the crowd is religiously excited to watch her in another supernatural narrative.
