Former professional wrestler Dwayne Johnson, better known by his ring name The Rock, gained notoriety when he appeared in The Mummy Returns and later played the lead in The Scorpion King. He is now regarded as one of the highest-paid actors in the business and someone who has produced some of the highest-grossing films.

Dwayne Johnson showcases support for Israel

The former professional wrestler, Dwayne Johnson, who is the fifth most followed person on Instagram with 392 million followers, recently took to his social media account to share his disappointment over the Israel-Hamas conflict and shared an official statement. He wrote,

“I’m heartbroken, angry, and sickened by the brutal murders and kidnapping of Jewish people through the horrific acts of the Hamas terrorist group. The growing loss of innocent Israeli and Palestinian lives is heart wrenching as this war escalates to immense proportions.”

The actor mentioned that he does not pretend to know everything about the complex conflict in the Middle East, adding that it needs deep understanding, context, and nuance, but he knows that hateful acts of terrorism like these are never justified. The actor pointed, “I pray for compassion and resolve. I pray for all innocent lives.”

Johnson lastly added in his post that he condemns and denounces terrorism, and in this devastating moment, his heart goes out to all the innocent victims and families grieving for their lost loved ones.

Dwayne Johnson is not the only one showcasing his support for Israel

The attacks in Israel shook the entire world.The celebrities have showcased their support for Israel with the President of the United States of America, Joe Biden, stating in an official statement,

“The United States unequivocally condemns this appalling assault against Israel by Hamas terrorists from Gaza, and I made clear to Prime Minister Netanyahu that we stand ready to offer all appropriate means of support to the Government and people of Israel. Terrorism is never justified. My Administration’s support for Israel’s security is rock solid and unwavering.”

Actress Gal Gadot, who is Israeli and has been sharing information about the country being under attack daily, wrote,  “I stand with Israel. You should too. The world cannot sit on the fence when these horrific acts of terror are happening!”

Actress Natalie Portman wrote on her social media,

“My heart is shattered for the people of Israel. Children, women and the elderly have been murdered and abducted from their own homes. I am in horror at these barbaric acts and my heart is pounding with love and prayer for the families of all affected.”

The Office fame actor B.J. Novak shared on his social media stories that his heart will always be broken by the unspeakable horrors committed against the people of Israel, adding that he prays for a future without hate, horror, and Hamas.

Ellen DeGeneres shared a picture of Martin Luther King Jr.’s saying on her social media which read ‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.’

Dwayne Johnson responds to the backlash over Maui fund

A couple of days before, Dwayne Johnson had taken to his social media to respond to the backlash he and Oprah Winfrey received after they started People’s Fund of Maui by pledging a combined $10 million to help the people affected by the wildfires in Maui which happened in August. He said,

“When we first launched the fund, there was some backlash. I get it, and I completely understand. And I could have been better. And next time I will be better. And I understand, you know, money ain’t falling out of the sky and it’s not growing on trees. And there’s a lot of people out there living paycheck to paycheck, and I get it, and I know what that’s like. I’ve lived paycheck to paycheck.”

The actor further mentioned in his video that he had never launched a fund before but he was quick at studying and he had his lesson learned. He added, “If I do something and you guys love it, you let me know. … If I do something and you hate it, you let me know.”

According to the actor, the first round of funds has been given to the survivors of the wildfires.
