- Powell realized that he was being made to do a scene in wet t-shirt when he was already shooting it.
- He teased that a sequel to the Tom Cruise starrer-Top Gun: Maverick is in the making.
Glen Powell is emerging as one of the fastest-rising stars in Hollywood. With his charismatic persona and impressive acting chops, there is hardly any cinema-goer who can escape being enthralled by his screen presence.
Powell has been on the rise since he starred in Top Gun: Maverick, and has been starring in hit after hit ever since. His most recent venture is the disaster film Twisters, in which he starred alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones. There was one particular scene in the movie that Powell was unaware of, and did not understand what he was being made to do, till the last moment.
Glen Powell Was Made to Shoot a Twisters Scene in a Wet T-shirt
Glen Powell began acting as a young kid and had a role in the movie Spy Kids – 3D. He also starred as a supporting character in several movies and shows. He has worked with Richard Linklater on quite a few movies, including the dark comedy Hitman, which was released on Netflix a couple of months ago.
These days, Powell can be found in interviews and on red carpets promoting his new movie Twisters. The movie follows the story of a team of storm chasers, portrayed by Powell, Jones, and Anthony Ramos, trying to toss barrels of polyacrylate solution into a tornado to reduce its intensity.
In a recent interview on Josh Horowitz’s Happy, Sad, Confused podcast with Daisy Edgar-Jones, Powell revealed how he was tricked into doing a scene in a wet t-shirt.
I didn’t realize I there’s like a there’s like a wet t-shirt moment in this movie that totally caught me by surprise.
He went on to recount how it exactly went down during the shooting.
It’s like they were like, ‘Hey just so you’re aware’ like Isaac was like, ‘Hey we’re going to.. we’re going to have a rain machine in the shot I think it looked cool.’ I was like, ‘Alright, cool cool cool,’ and they’re like, ‘Hey I don’t think we’re going to do the jacket just kind of hold it, you’re leaving the house.’ I was like, ‘Alright,’ and then walking out I’m like, ‘Okay I see what’s happening here.’
Given Powell has always had a good physique, and director Lee Isaac Chung seemed to have come up with a way to utilize it in some way, even though he might have objectified the Scream Queens alum a little in doing so. Given that the actor has taken that in stride, it is all good.
Glen Powell Hints at Top Gun: Maverick Sequel Having a Green Signal
Currently, both Powell and Tom Cruise are busy doing their thing, with the former fighting off tornadoes in Twisters and Cruise doing risky stunts in Mission Impossible 8. This, however, has not stopped fans from speculating about a Top Gun: Maverick sequel.
Luckily, during the podcast, he hinted that the movie is in the works. When asked about the upcoming project, he said: “I mean, I have a date.” When pressed about more details, he refused to answer any questions. Fans can take relief in the fact that a new Top Gun movie is in the making.
Twisters is now in cinemas.
