Slip of the tongue is a common phenomenon that often occurs on live television. Most of the time it is quite generic like secrets or spoilers, and therefore can be brushed off by the crew and the audiences. However, at times, hosts and commenters blurt out slurs as a slip of tongue and end up failing to cover up. A similar incident occurred on The View when Whoopi Goldberg blurted an ethnic slur on live television.

Whoopi Goldberg Blurts An Ethnic Slur On Live Television

On Wednesday’s episode of ABC network’s The View, Whoopi Goldberg uttered an ethnic slur as a slip of tongue. While discussing the former President of America, Donald Trump, The View hosts got into a conversation about his campaigns, legal cases, and supporters. That is when Goldberg quite unprofessionally blurted, “he (Donald Trump) got ‘gy—-d’ somehow in the election”.

Instead of using the professional term “cheating” Whoopi Goldberg uttered a Romani slur and ended up in a controversial position. Although this wasn’t the first time Goldberg fueled controversy with her perspective and offensive language, this was definitely one of the incidents that would have cost her the entire $60M fortune she built. She previously created a big mess for the network, after she stated the holocaust was “not about race”.

In the apology video Goldberg stated, “You know when you’re a certain age, you use the words that you know from when you were a kid or you remember saying, and that’s what I did today, and I shouldn’t have,” Posting the video on behalf of the show on their official Twitter page, the 67-year-old host further proceeded with her apology.

I should’ve thought about it a little longer before I said it, but I didn’t. And I should’ve said cheated, but I used another word, and I’m really, really sorry.

Her apology was accepted by the audience, and most of them even defended the 67-year-old host. This time it didn’t become a big controversy since most people were unaware of the etymology of the word.
