Actor Kelsey Grammer rose to fame with his portrayal as Dr. Frasier Crane on the NBC sitcom Cheers from 1984 to 1993, and as Beast from the X-Men series. The actor later reprised the role of Frasier for the spin-off series Frasier from 1993 to 2004 and once again in 2023. As a result, Grammer holds a record for playing the longest-running character by a live-action actor.

Grammer was also regarded for his portrayal of Dr. Hank McCoy a.k.a., Beast in the X-Men series. This is despite him only playing the character in The Last Stand and Days of Future Past before another actor took over. Kelsey Grammer was looking forward to playing Beast in the X-Men franchise before Nicholas Hoult took over

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, actor Kelsey Grammer who debuted in the X-Men franchise as Dr. Hank McCoy, a.k.a., Beast talked about how he was looking forward to playing the character before a younger actor took over. He said,

“I did the role, we were in Cannes, it was a big premiere, it was all being celebrated, and people were taking bow and all this nonsense. I thought well, we final arrived! And they came up and said we found this fabulous new direction for the franchise.”

He continued,

“I thought, ‘This is it. I’ve made it. I’m finally in a franchise movie and they said they were going to go back in time and Beast was going to be younger. Then I slowly deduced that I was not included.”

The actor did not have any hard feelings for the makers but was excited to keep playing the blue guy in the franchise. He had previously expressed that he loves that character and would love to play it again if given a chance. In an interview with MovieWeb, he said,

“If they don’t ask me to return to the role of Beast, I’ll never go to Disneyland again. I’d love for them to do that. I want to do that.

Nicholas Hoult took over the role after he was finalized to play the younger version of the Beast in the franchise.

The talented actor who vowed never to visit Disneyland if not called back for Beast, was given a call back to appear in Marvel Studios’ The Marvels’ post-credit scene. Although it was a cameo, he seemed to be content with the fact that he was thought of. He said,

“It’s a great feather in my cap now that to have him come back and have people still be interested in seeing who was arguably the greatest Beast ever.”

He joked,

“Beast is a passion for me. I’ve always wanted to be a blue person and now I am in the film. “

Grammer who has been very keen on portraying the character on-screen again said that there have been some discussions. He added that he has always wanted to play the character. In an interview with The Wrap, he said,

“It’s my hope that you will see Beast again. I can say with a certain amount of confidence that you ill. I would love to. I’ve always wanted to play him again. I see him as an extraordinary character, a real character of gravitas and importance in our culture. I’m delighted Beast is back and hope he’s back in a real way.”

The actor lastly noted that he was extremely pleased with the way fans reacted to his role in The Marvels.
