“I spent more money”: Mark Wahlberg Lost $500,000 in His $129 Million Movie That Also Starred Christian Bale
The Fighter, which premiered on December 6, 2010, is one of Mark Wahlberg’s most popular movies. Wahlberg put forth a lot of effort for the movie and continued to prepare for his role. To achieve character perfection, the 51-year-old actor trained for 8 to 10 hours every day. In order to keep up with his training routine, he also built a boxing ring in his home.
When the film arrived on the big screen, it was announced as a huge hit. Although Wahlberg’s performance was praised, the movie cost him some money.

Mark Wahlberg is a perfectionist of Hollywood and to attain the desired level of perfection, the actor made sure he did everything he could to look like a boxer. During an interview, the actor explained that he spent so much money on his trainers who were training him for the movie, that it cost him a lot. While talking about why he wanted to attain perfection in the movie, the actor said,
“There are many, many boxing movies, and I love most of them. But I knew that the thing that would set us apart was if the fights looked more real, and I looked more like a boxer than anyone else who’s done it in the past.”
To make sure his physique was always at its best, he preferred to take his trainers along with him wherever he traveled. The Fear actor said,
“I spent more money paying my trainers and having them travel with me than I got paid, by a good half a million dollars.”
Wahlberg almost lost $500,000 while preparing himself for the role of Mickey Ward. He went through hardcore tough training sessions to come out like a boxer for the movie.
Mark Wahlberg did his own stunts in The Fighter
Wahlberg was so passionate about this movie that he insisted on doing his own stunts. To make sure the actor was fit to do his own stunts, he trained 8 to 10 hours daily. While talking about his exhausting training schedule, Walberg said,
“There were certainly times where I would wake up at 4:30 in the morning, you know, my trainer would ring the bell, and, ‘Oh God.’“I’m like, ‘I better get this movie made.’ You know, ‘Kill somebody if I don’t get this movie made.’”
While doing the stunts in the movie, he almost got his nose injured while filming one of the fight scenes. The Father Stu actor wanted to make his fight scenes look as real as possible. His hard work and performance were appreciated by the people after the movie was released.
