Drake is back in the news. The In my feelings singer has found it hard to stay away from the limelight over the years. Ever since starting his career with Replacement Girl, the singer has been news. Be it for his latest album, or even for his choices.
This time it’s for the latter. More specifically for dissing a person whom he was close to. One who is no small personality herself. That is none other than 39-time Grand Slam winner, Serena Williams, who also happens to be his former girlfriend.
Drake trolls ex-girlfriend Serena Williams’ husband
Aubrey Graham AKA Drake has dropped his latest song, Middle of the Ocean, as a part of his latest album, Her Loss. He dropped the album on 28th October this year, which consists of songs like Rich Flex and Major Distribution, was released in collaboration with 21 Savage, a collaboration long-time in the making.
In the song, Middle of the Ocean, Drake takes a dig at his former girlfriend, Serena Williams, and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit. The two tied the knot in 2017, after first meeting each other in 2015. The two share a daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr., who was born in 2017 as well. The two have lived together ever since.
How Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian handled the situation
In the song, Drake speaks of Alexis Ohanian. He called the latter a “groupie”. The song went,
“Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie. He claim we don’t got a problem, but no, boo, it is like you comin’ for sushi. We might pop up on ’em at will like Suzuki. For your birthday, your man got a table at Hibachi. Last time I ate there, [Lil] Wayne was doin’ numbers off the cup like Yahtzee and Paris Hilton was steady duckin’ the paparazzi.”
But the real beauty was how Serena Williams and Alexis Ohanian responded to his message. Ohanian took a dig at the Childs Play singer, tweeting, “The reason I stay winning is that I’m relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do – including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter.”
Williams responded to the tweet with 4 emojis which showed how much the two love each other.
Drake and Serena Williams dated back in 2015
Drake and Serena Williams were a thing of the past. The two were reportedly dating in 2015, at the same time around which she came in contact with her future husband. The two had a good time together, with Drake going to the extent of speaking about her in his songs, and even mentioning her name in the song, “Worst Behavior.”
The two were even spotted kissing while dining at a fancy restaurant. But the relationship between the two fizzled out soon, as the 41-year-old was reportedly in a relationship with Alexis Ohanian by 2016. Despite this, Drake took the initiative to show Williams that he cared about her even after that, visiting one of her matches at Wimbledon in 2018, where he was spotted cheering Williams.
Things seemed to have changed for the worse now.
