  • He has often teased an X-Force movie including last year when he posted a still from Deadpool 2.

If there is one thing that fans can be absolutely sure about when it comes to Ryan Reynolds, it is that he is willing to go to great lengths to get what he wants. The prime example of this is the fact that he had a hand in leaking some footage of the filming of Deadpool.

Besides wanting Wolverine to join the foul-mouthed anti-hero, Reynolds has also often expressed his desire to have an X-Force. So far, he has had no luck in that regard. Even so, at least he did not give up without trying even though his ways to accomplish it might not have been the most conventional. He tried to hire kids dressed up as different X-Men superheroes which backfired on him.

It is no secret how long and hard Ryan Reynolds had to fight to get the first Deadpool movie made after the character made his debut in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Thanks to his blind optimism and back-breaking efforts, the first solo Deadpool movie was released in February 2016.

However, prior to its release, Reynolds donned his Deadpool suit for a Halloween picture to pose with a group of kids cosplaying different X-Men superheroes. He posted the picture on his official X account as he took a humorous jab at Fox asking them to stop changing the timelines.

A couple of days later, Reynolds posted a video on YouTube in which the Merc with the Mouth is auditioning those kids in a park for the X-Force. Some of the questions he asked were “How many of you have taken a human life?”, “What’s your superpower?” and “How many fingers am I holding up?” the last of which is of course a trick question.

In a surprising turn of events, the kids dressed up as Mystique, Cyclops, and Wolverine ended up bullying Deadpool. Mystique asked, “Aren’t you Green Lantern?” The response was quite hilarious. At one point, Cyclops commented, “I think Deadpool may have been drunk.”

However, the most hilarious of these was arguably when Wolverine said: “I really wish we could sew his mouth shut again.” Watching the superhero getting bullied by kids might not have been on anyone’s bingo cards, but it sure is rather fun to watch it happen.

As far as an X-Force movie is concerned, Reynolds has been the one to be the most hopeful about it. In fact, he also mentioned that one such movie was in the making during an interview with Filmstarts in 2016. This was shortly before the first Deadpool movie dropped.

In the future, if we’re doing a bunch more Deadpool movies, we’re gonna really explore the X-Men a lot. And maybe X-Force. X-Force is really my priority. I really want to get that in.

This was not the only time an X-Force movie was a topic of discussion. Deadpool 2 even brought the team to life even though it was fairly short-lived. Once more, Reynolds expressed his hopes for a spin-off featuring the team in an interview with Collider.

At the time, the star also mentioned that although they had a story that everyone wanted to work on, they did not have a script yet. He further assured the interviewer that the Fox-Disney merger would not affect the movie’s future. Most recently, he stirred up a discourse again with a picture he posted of the team last year on X. According to The Direct, he even edited the caption which raised suspicions.
