“I think they know what they’re doing”: Kelly Ripa’s Close Friend Predicts ‘Live’ Host Will Retire Soon After Replacing Ryan Seacrest With Husband Mark Consuelos
The only constant face of the morning talk show fest Live!, Kelly Ripa is likely to retire soon which makes her husband Mark Consuelos her final co-host, close friend Ali Wentworth has a hunch. Only time will tell if her suspicion is at all correct or not. Although, Ripa has hinted at a probable retirement plan but did not put any date to it. According to her friend, Consuelos’ debut marks the beginning of the end. The duo kicked off the show, on April 17th after Ryan Seacrest departed from the show in a quest for newer ventures.
Ripa has been associated with the show for two long decades, it will surely be a bittersweet moment for the fans when the time comes to bid her farewell. Although nothing is confirmed yet, the day is not far.
Ali Wentworth predicts Kelly Ripa’s probable retirement
Although fans cannot avoid the fact that Live! host, Kelly Ripa is nearing the end of her relationship with the morning talk show. Her close friend Ali Wentworth and a frequent stand-in host for the said show is helping the fans to brace themselves for the hit by sharing her predictions with the world. In a recent interview, the actress claimed her husband, Mark Consuelos will be her final co-host by saying,
“I think they know what they’re doing,”
She further claimed,
“And I think after having Michael Strahan and then Ryan, it’s almost like a natural thing to have Mark, who by the way cohosts all the time anyway. And like, it feels like this is the final, final cohost.”
Kelly Ripa has a lot of co-hosts in the span of the last twenty years of her hosting the show. Thus she thinks, the network deciding to go with Mark Consuelos as their new co-host is a pretty big hint to the star’s retirement. She said,
“You can’t have your husband cohost, and then later somebody else. It feels like this is where it’s going to be for a while. It’s my guess,”
The stand-in host then further elaborated,
“I think it’s a tough ask because you’re putting your marriage, your personal relationship, way in the spotlight,—I mean, one of the things I’ll say about my husband is that we sort of stay in our lanes, and we keep it separate.”
She then further encouraged the duo to take the reviews they received on their opening week with a light heart and said,
“And it’s going to be interesting to see how they can juggle both having their personal life and their professional life meld in this way,—I think people are excited about it. So it’ll be interesting.”
Although the fans of the show cannot avoid the huge inevitable change, they are pretty excited about the things the real-life couple has in store for them.
Kelly Ripa’s retirement plans
Ripa is the only one who has seen it all and knows the show’s ins and outs. From Regis Philbin to Ryan Seacrest, he has worked alongside all the greats of the industry, and thus, she is now considered one. Although the actress is not sure when the right time will present itself, she gearing up for possible retirement slowly and steadily and is making sure, Live! remains a fan-favorite forever. In an interview with Variety, she said,
“but I do believe there is a great opportunity to get two younger people and start training them, because I like seamless transitions. However long it takes to get two people up and ready is how long we’ll be there.”
She also stated she wishes to go back to acting and would very much like to take up the things she did not have the opportunity to do before. All in all, she has great plans to use her retirement from the morning talk show to its full potential.
