Swedish actor Dolph Lundgren was diagnosed with kidney cancer eight years ago. Recently the actor spoke about his battle with cancer. During an interview, the 65-year-old actor talked about how difficult things got for him at one point when he was battling cancer. He talked about all the difficulties he went through during his recovery from kidney cancer.

The actor talked about the therapy sessions he came across to cure himself of cancer. The actor explained how stressful the recovery time was for him.

Dolph Lundgren was diagnosed with Cancer in 2015

In an interview with In Depth with Graham Bensinger Dolph Lundgren talked about the path of recovery from cancer. The actor explained he got the terrifying news about him having kidney cancer in the year 2015. 

Right after the diagnosis, the doctors removed the cancer. The actor explained after going under surgery he went for regular scans to make sure everything was under control. The actor said,

“Then I did scans every six months, then you do it every year and it was fine, you know, for five years.” 

In 2020, sadly Lundgren again came across a piece of bad news about his health. He was informed by the doctors that there were again new tumors in his body. He was in Sweden at that time when there was acid reflux and he went to the doctor for a check-up. The Creed II actor said, 

“I was back in Sweden and had some kind of acid reflux. I didn’t know what it was. So I did an MRI and they found there were a few more tumors around the area.” 

The Universal Soldier actor also explained how difficult and chancy things got for him during the second surgery. Doctors came across problems removing the tumor.

Dolph Lundgren had a total of 6 tumors during the second surgery

Lundgren said he was informed by the doctors that many of his organs had tumors. The actor explained there were a total of 6 tumors that the doctors tried to remove but one of them was very big almost a size of a lemon which was hard to remove he explained.

When the doctor suggested the Rocky Balboa actor to spend some time with his family the actor asked how much time he had left. In a statement Lundgren said,

“I asked him, ‘How long do you think I’ve got left? I think he said two or three years, but I could tell in his voice that he probably thought it was less. I thought it was it, for sure.”

After that, he went to another doctor which helped him to recover faster. The actor explained that the new treatment helped him and made his tumors shrink from 20% to 30%. The actor has got much better than before trying to get back in action.
