The actor recently took to his Instagram and shared how he launched an entire football league in 2020. Dwayne Johnson posted a picture featuring himself and his former wife, Dany Garcia, who is XFL co-owner and chairwoman. Celebrating the massive success of the Arlington Renegades team with Garcia, he wrote,
“We launched an entire professional football league and crowned a NEW XFL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM!, Massive congratulations to our @xflrenegades and head coach @coachbobstoops & staff on their championship season.”
The Rampage actor continued as he thanked his ex-wife,
“From the call, I received back in 2020 from our visionary XFL Chairwoman @danygarciaco saying, I want us to buy the XFL, all the way to this past weekend as we proudly presented our XFL Championship trophy.”
Johnson added,
“Very surreal, a testament to the relentless hard work we put in to passionately create, The League of Opportunity. THANK YOU to our entire @XFL organization, and THANK YOU to our hyped and loyal XFL FANS across our country. We are all building this league – TOGETHER.”
Last year the former couple released a joint statement stating the aim of their professional football league XFL which they purchased together in 2020. They said,
“We are extremely pleased to collaborate with the NFL in these important areas. We are bringing forward an XFL that is progressive and forward-thinking when it comes to innovation, leveraging the newest technology to enhance the game day experience. We have an open field for innovative rules to enhance in-game access. Sharing insights and practices between the XFL and NFL will do a tremendous amount of good for the game of football and support the player ecosystem overall.”
