Shaq Admits He Was the Reason for the Split with Ex-wife Shaunie Henderson
In the latest cover story interview for People magazine, former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal opened up about his divorce from Shaunie Henderson. According to him, the real reason behind the split was Shaq himself. He revealed saying, “I was a d–khead” and further added that referring to his ex-wife and said, “You don’t know how good you got something ’til it’s gone.”
However Shaq previously also said something along the same line in regard to his marriage with ex-wife Shaunie Henderson. In an episode of The Pivot Podcast, Shaq revealed some of his thoughts saying, “I was bad” and also “She was awesome. She really was. It was all me.” Further, Shaq also added saying, “wasn’t protecting [Henderson] and protecting those vows.” Although it was all said in a very cryptic manner however it was indicated that he was talking about Henderson and their relationship.
But despite confessing that he was the problem, Shaq has not provided any clear information as to what he did wrong in both interviews. The People cover story confession comes amid his online rivalry with Kanye West. Therefore some are taking this as another dig at West.
A brief look at Kanye West and Shaq’s Beef
The drama started when the former NBA player called out the All-Star guard Kyrie Irving on Twitter. Irving had shared a link to a movie via Twitter that contains some anti-semitic undertones. Following this Irving was suspended for five games without pay by Brooklyn Nets. Afterward, Shaq also took to Twitter to call out the Brooklyn Nets guard. However, the one person that showed his support for Irving was rapper Kanye West.
He dragged Shaq on Twitter by writing, “They make us bully ourselves because of our business alignments.” Next, he called out the former NBA player once again for his connection with Billionaire Jamie Salter. This time Shaq responded to the Yeezy founder by writing, “You don’t know me like that, worry about your business”. Further, Shaq also used the rapper’s own lyrics and quoted them against him via a tweet.
