“I was disappointed, which is why I went over to DC”: Chris Evans’ Co-star Leaves MCU For DCU Movie
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the most successful franchises. The MCU has given us many superheroes who have become household names over time. When we talk about Marvel, how can we miss the MCU’s one of the most popular movies, Captain America? There has always been a debate about whether Marvel is better than DC. And apparently, Captain America: Civil War star Frank Grillo confirmed that he will be leaving the MCU and joining its rival, DC. Grillo revealed that he was disappointed with Marvel and therefore opted to work with DC.
Why did Frank Grillo choose DC over MCU?
Frank Grillo is an American actor, renowned for his role as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in Captain America: Civil War. Grillo recently confirmed that he will now be working with James Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted DCU. The actor revealed he joined the MCU’s rival because he was not happy with the way Marvel treated his character Crossbones in Captain America: Civil War. While promoting his new film, One Day as a Lion, Grillo told ComicBook.com,
“I think Crossbones serves a purpose, but I think the interesting thing is that if you see how many people around the world have responded to Crossbones, and again, he’s on the screen for a very f–king short amount of time, I think there’s more there. I think there was more meat on the bone. I was disappointed, which is why I went over to DC.”
Grillo felt that Marvels didn’t do justice to his character of Crossbones, which is why he was motivated to join DCU.

In a previous interview with a media house, the actor shared that he had a deal with the MCU to be a part of seven movies. The 57-year-old actor said,
“I would have loved to continue and be a bigger part of what they were doing, but it wasn’t part of my journey.”
After Grillo’s statement, it seems like fans won’t be able to witness him in Marvel anymore. But it would be interesting to see Grillo in DC movies.

Frank Grillo’s entry to DC Universe
After bidding farewell to the Marvel Universe, Grillo will be seen in the DC movies. Recently, The Purge actor was spotted at the premiere of DC’s film, Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Following Grillo’s appearance on the premiere, it’s speculated that he is finally heading to be a part of DC. Apparently, the martial artist will be seen in DC’s upcoming animated series, Creature Commandos.
Grillo himself fueled all these rumors by posting an Instagram story in which he addressed Ron Perlman. Grillo wrote,
“Me and my guy, @perlmutations, we did a little film together a while back. Could this be two? hmmmmmmmmmm.”
Ron Perlman is an American actor who is also rumored to be a part of Creature Commandos.
