“I was his sidekick”: Sandra Bullock Never Liked Make-Up As She Wanted To Follow Her Father’s Footsteps
There is no doubt that Sandra Bullock is a well-known and versatile actress in Hollywood and has left her mark on the big screen. She has expertly played characters in a variety of roles that span every facet of the human experience, showcasing her boundless talent and undeniable charm.
Bullock was ready for acting to not be a career for life until her breakout part in 1994’s Speed. She went on to star in other hits like Miss Congeniality, Two Weeks Notice, The Proposal, and her Oscar-winning The Blind Side. The actress didn’t believe her acting career would pan out, so she had a backup plan and a passion for design and architecture. Sandra Bullock wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps and now has two passions.
Sandra Bullock’s unexpected passion for architecture
Sandra Bullock is a well-known name in the film industry. The actor has been the face behind some of Hollywood’s successful films. However, she recently revealed how she never saw acting as a career to pursue. She tried her hand at acting but had a backup plan of architecture and was more passionate about it.
In an interview with Architectural Digest, Bullock revealed her latest project: a 19th-century Manhattan townhouse she restored. The actress said,
“Since being an actress was not something I thought I would be allowed to do past a certain time, every penny I made I would invest into real estate.”
The Oscar winner has pursued a private passion for design far from the Hollywood spotlight, nursing properties back to life. The actress got a passion for design from her father, John W. Bullock. She grew up watching him buying and restoring houses in the vocal studios where he taught opera. The Lost City actress said,
“I was his sidekick and loved being in the old homes. I was that kid that skipped the ‘how to apply my makeup properly’ phase, but did learn where the wax ring goes when installing a toilet.”
The mother of two owns around 15 properties across the country, including ones in Malibu and Beverly Hills in California, Austin, Georgia, and New York. Some of these houses are for her personal use, while others she buys and sells as passion projects for her business. She revealed her latest project, the 19th-century townhouse in Manhattan being the big one as it needed much restoration and love.
