Stranger Things began in 2016 as a show about horror, drama, and coming-of-age elements, but it has been more than just a show for its young cast members, as it has given many of them their career breakthroughs. Millie Bobby Brown plays the role of Eleven, who is a young girl with psychokinetic powers. The role earned her much-deserved fame and recognition through many SAG Awards and Emmy nominations and winnings over the years.

The actress has been portraying the character for about nine years now, and it is quite understandable why she has developed an emotional connection with her character and her fellow cast members. In an earlier interview with Teen Vogue after season 3, Brown revealed what it is like to finish every season for her.

When I leave, I cry. I’m the only one that’s full-on sobbing. I just can’t. And especially wiping off my tattoo at the end of shooting makes me cry even more. But this season, three, the last day, I was like, dye my hair black. Wipe this off. I was definitely ready to go and be Madison [in Godzilla]. I was like, pierce my ears. I need them done. Yeah. But I was really sad too.

Things like the removal of her iconic tattoo trigger tears, which shows how she is deeply connected to her role. The set of Stranger Things has become almost like a second home for her, as she says, “Everything you see on the show is what you get.”

Brown feels that the cast members have developed a genuine connection through choosing their trailer neighbors, playing board games, screaming at each other, and other fun activities that helped them build their friendship.

Stranger Things season 5 will mark the end of an era. Along with the fans, the fellow actors will look back and feel nostalgic about it in the future, as it can be said that the show has influenced a whole generation. Echoing this sentiment, showrunner Ross Duffer shared on his Instagram,

We’ve been telling this story for nearly a decade now. Many of our cast members joined us when they were kids, just ten or eleven years old. It wasn’t just a show for them—it was a defining part of their childhood. They’ve grown up before our eyes, becoming more than actors—they’ve become family.

Millie Bobby Brown also shared her reaction through an Instagram post where she is also seen getting tears due to her overflow of emotions. Brown says,

I am nowhere near ready to leave you guys. I love each and every one of you and I’ll forever carry the memories and bonds we’ve created together as a family.

As it will be the conclusion, the fifth season is expected to be the most ambitious one so far. The stakes are higher than ever as the show will bring together Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, and the rest of the cast for one last adventure.

Stranger Things season 5 will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
