Australian actor Jacob Elordi ventured into professional acting as an extra on Johnny Depp’s 2017 adventure movie Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. His first acting role came in the 2018 Australian movie Swinging Safari. That very year, he rose to fame as Noah Flynn on the Netflix series The Kissing Booth. He reprised his role as Noah Flynn in the two sequels of the series.

Jacob Elordi also starred as Nate Jacobs in the popular teen drama HBO series Euphoria, which was released in 2019. Recently, the actor has been making headlines for his portrayal of the King of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley in the 2023 movie Priscilla. Elordi made a revelation that the addition of pounds of bacon to his diet made him gain a lot of weight.

Jacob Elordi is not the first actor to play the role of Elvis Presley on the big screen. In 2022, Austin Butler portrayed the musician in the movie Elvis. The movie was released to great critical acclaim and even won numerous accolades. Even so, it goes without saying that every actor tries to do their best to do justice to their characters and so did Elordi.

During a roundtable interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jacob Elordi appeared alongside his co-star Cailee Spaeny and director Sofia Coppola. It was during that interview that Coppola said Elordi consumed a huge amount of bacon and even that Priscilla Presley had revealed that her late husband Elvis Presley used to like “really burnt bacon”.

Elordi then said: “I averaged, like, a pound of bacon a day. It’s not that noticeable because I’m quite long, but I was the biggest I’ve ever been.” The actor had truly gained a lot of weight for his portrayal of Elvis Presley so that he could resemble the musician’s looks in Priscilla, which was based on Priscilla Presley’s 1985 memoir Elvis and Me.

While discussing Jacob Elordi’s consumption of bacon, Cailee Spaeny, who played the role of the titular character in the movie Priscilla, brought up the fascinating story behind Elvis Presley’s obsession with ‘Fool’s Gold’ loaf which contained roughly 8,000 calories.

This infamous sandwich, that Presley adored, contains a pound of bacon, a loaf of sourdough bread, a jar of peanut butter, and a jar of jelly. The first time the musician had this sandwich was when he went to the now-closed Colorado Mine Company restaurant to grab a bite after a 1976 concert in Denver, Colorado.

Shortly after Elvis Presley returned to Graceland, he craved the loaf one night. To fulfill his craving, he hopped on his private jet along with a couple of friends and flew straight to Denver. The restaurant’s owners brought a pile of the massive sandwiches to Presley in the hangar itself.

However, making a trip to Denver every time he craved the Fool’s Gold Loaf would be a little too much so Presley came up with his own version of the sandwich which was far more manageable.
