She admitted in an interview with Bustle that it was a difficult transition because she had to balance caring for her son with working long, arduous hours. “I don’t think people understand the hours that it takes to shoot a one-hour drama each day. We used to routinely work 12 to 14-hour days. That wasn’t a long day. That was just your basic day.”
She married Mark Consuelos in May 1996 and their first child was born in June 1997. She started working long hours when she was 28, and by that time her son was a year old. “I would bring him to work with me. I was the only one of my friends that was married, and I was the only one of my friends with a kid.”
