Along with being a singer, Rihanna is also an accomplished businesswoman who launched her clothing brand, Savage X Fenty, in 2018, endorsed by several stars. The British singer and Years & Years frontman, Olly Alexander, had also modeled for the Rihanna-owned brand. However, he seems done with Savage X Fenty as he announced on Twitter that he would no longer wear that clothing brand following the announcement that Johnny Depp will work with the brand.

As a result of Rihanna’s invitation to Johnny Depp to be in the Savage X Fenty vol 4 fashion show, which will air on Prime Video on November 9, Olly Alexander was not pleased. Savage X Fenty announced a list of celebrities who will model at their event, which has already been taped for Amazon Prime Video. It was also confirmed that Depp did not shoot his appearance with other stars.

The Years & Years lead singer, Olly Alexander, 32, distanced himself from Rihanna‘s Savage X Fenty after Johnny Depp was revealed to be working on the lingerie line. The singer expressed displeasure with the brand’s decision on Twitter after it was announced that Depp, who won a defamation suit against ex-wife Amber Heard, would appear in the Rihanna-owned brand’s fashion show.

First, Alexander tweeted a sad face while reposting a tweet about the Rihanna-Depp news; then, he tweeted again in response to a fan’s tweet.

A fan said in her tweet, “But, “Savage X Fenty” is you, baby……. you wear it so well.” Then Alexander responded, “thank you, but after this news, I won’t be wearing it anymore.”

Following his tweet to not use the brand in the future, fans started trolling the brand and Pirates of the Caribbean star Depp. In February, Alexander posted photos wearing Rihanna’s brand’s boxers, such as Valentine’s collection, with the caption, “Your love is a fascination.” Then, in October, he shared a paid partnership ad showcasing the brand on his Instagram.

A source also confirmed that the actor Johnny Depp won’t be modeling the line in the fashion show, but he will appear during the show on Prime Video. The show will feature celebrities such as Burna Boy, Angela Aguilar, Bella Poarch, Anitta, Taraji P. Hanson, Rickey Thompson, and Cara Delevingne.

Rihanna’s Casting Of Depp Is A Smart Move

A controversial trial involving Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard caught the public’s attention earlier this year. Heard and Depp have been engaged in an explosive legal battle since he sued his ex-wife for defamation for a 2018 editorial for The Washington Post in which she described herself as a victim of domestic abuse and spoke of feeling angered by women who don’t speak out. However, Depp was awarded $10.35 million in damages.

The singer’s casting of Depp – likely to polarize a wide swath of her Navy, who are all aware of Rihanna’s history of domestic abuse – comes at a questionable time. Her comeback is finally taking off: she’s already booked to headline the Super Bowl halftime show, and her first single, Lift Me Up, was released last week in six years.

Despite Amber Heard’s domestic abuse allegations, Rihanna received severe backlash online for including Depp in her fashion show. The news disappointed some social media users and they bashed Rihanna.
