“I’d never in a million years buy her skincare products”: Kim Kardashian Gets Trashed By Dermatologist, Claims SKIMS Has ‘Incomprehensible’ Ingredients Marketed at Exorbitant Price
The Kardashian business ventures are several and varied. Their extensive fame has given them the outlet to market their brands as the epitome of perfection at a price that can make one’s jaw drop. And yet, their business ventures are generally a success, with only a few exceptions. Kim Kardashian for one owns quite a few brands.
She is a co-founder of SKIMS, a shapewear, and clothing brand, a video game called Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, and previously, a cosmetics brand KKW Beauty, which she officially drew the curtain on post her separation from Kanye West while hinting at a rebranding attempt later on. Cut to a few months ago, the billionaire launched a line of skincare products, SKKN by Kim. But even that has been embroiled in one controversy after the other since its inception.
SKKN by Kim is a colossal overpriced joke
Kim Kardashian announced the launch of SKKN by Kim back in June 2022 with much elation. This 9-step skincare routine including face oils and cleansers was supposed to bring the comforts and perks of luxury skincare within the coziness of one’s home. It does sound pleasing until we read the price tag of the cumulative product line – a whopping $630!
The way too steep pricing attracted tons of backlash and The Kardashians star had a sorry statement as an excuse – the formulation has been a result of “best advice” and “best formulations” from beauty and skincare experts like esthetician and celebrity facialist Joanna Czech, among others.
Respected dermatologist trashes Kim Kardashian’s skincare line
Recently, famed dermatologist Dr. Fayne Frey known for FryFace opened up about how problematic the brand and its very concept are. She told The Sun,
“I’d never in a million years buy the Kardashians’ skincare products, plus there’s absolutely no reason to spend this kind of money on skincare.
While others think they’re going to look like Kim Kardashian because they use her products, the only person on this planet who’s going to use her products and look like Kim Kardashian is Kim Kardashian.”
She went on to describe how the Kardashians subliminally manipulate their fans into buying their products without informing themselves thoroughly on basic nuances like actual benefits and safe and quality ingredients.
“Marketing needs to be honest, straightforward, and data-driven, where companies include ingredients that are safe, where there’s full disclosure and simple language on labels.
Some of these Kardashian products are created using marketing tactics where the consumer judges them based on the marketing but the ingredients are incomprehensible, so these skincare products are blind items to them.”
The Kardashians have always been infamous for propagating an unreal and unhealthy standard of beauty that is unachievable without photoshop and surgeries. And they do it all for the sake of cashing off the insecurities of other women. SKKN by Kim is clearly no different.
