“I’d rather go to a Bruno Mars show”: Nick Cannon Royally Disses Taylor Swift, Beyonce
Another day, another absurd statement was delivered by the American television host, actor, rapper, and comedian– Nick Cannon. The subject, this time, however, centers on three of the biggest names in music: Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift, and Beyoncé.
Cannon’s bad music choices are fast becoming a well-known knowledge as are his countless children. While he occasionally has a hit, he is just as quick to offer a jaded opinion about the state of rap music today. By doing so, isn’t he showing how out of touch he probably is due to his nonstop fatherly duties?
Well, his recent thoughts, which he shared on Monday during his own Amp Radio show, The Daily Cannon, won’t be helpful for him.
The Wild’n Out host, Mason Moussette, Courtney Bee, and DJ Abby De La Rosa were discussing musical acts when Cannon said that he preferred seeing Mars in concert than to seeing Beyonce or Taylor Swift.
Nick Cannon Argues That Bruno Mars Has More Hits Than Beyonce And Taylor Swift
Bruno Mars, in the opinion of Nick Cannon, has more hits than Beyoncé and Taylor Swift. The father of 12 sparked a discussion with his cohosts on the recent episode of his new Amp show, The Daily Cannon when he said he would choose to go to a Mars concert over one with Beyoncé or Swift.
“No offense, I would rather go to a Bruno Mars show than a Beyoncé or Taylor Swift show.”
He questioned, “Who got more hits?” following significant pushback from his cohosts. Then he doubled down after more resistance and asked pointedly, “Beyoncé got more hits than Bruno Mars.”
Nick Cannon was still not persuaded when one of his cohosts started listing off Beyoncé’s hit songs.
Well, the official tale of the tape, which is the Billboard Hot 100 chart history for each artist, indicates that Beyoncé has far more hits than Bruno Mars. They both have the same number of No. 1’s with eight. But compared to Mars’ 18, Beyonce has 21 top-10 hits.
And thus, with regard to Hot 100 singles, Bruno Mars has 32, and Jay-Z’s wife has 81.
What Were The Responses Of Other Co-Hosts?
Well, men or women can lie, but numbers don’t.
Co-host, Courtney Bee responded by naming a few of Beyonce’s hits, including Love on Top, Crazy in Love, and Drunk In Love,” before going back to her Destiny’s Child days and naming songs from that era.
She then asked Nick Cannon to list five of Bruno Mars’ hits, but he was unable to. So, you got it, folks. This is in no way a slight against Mars. But one needs to be prepared with knowledge and data if they are going to make that kind of claim.
Before restarting his stance, Cannon tried to clarify, saying, “I’m a Beyonce’s fan. I still believe Bruno Mars actually has more hit records.”
It is safe to say that Mars’ numbers are certainly impressive, but they fall short of Beyoncé’s. She has had a whopping 81 songs as a solo artist chart on the Billboard Hot 100; 21 of which have reached the top 10, and eight have reached No. 1.
She had 14 songs from Destiny’s Child that reached the Billboard Hot 100 charts.
Taylor Swift, meanwhile, has made 189 appearances on the Hot 100. Nine of her songs have debuted at No. 1, and 40 of her songs have reached the top 10.
