Murphy’s acting career took off with Enda Walsh’s Disco Pigs, where Murphy had the role of a volatile Cork teenager. Disco Pigs’ two years long tour secured Murphy’s representations in many other theatre productions like Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing (1998), The Country Boy, and Juno and the Paycock. Murphy’s most impactful lead role was in Danny Boyle’s horror film 28 Days Later where his character, Jim was portrayed as a pandemic survivor.
This sweet-looking angelic actor is also famous for his villainous roles and has been nominated for the best villain award. Fast forward to 2013, the BBC television series Peaky Blinders began and Cillian Murphy starred as Thomas Shelby, the iconic role because of which millions of people remember Murphy’s charisma. Cillian Murphy’s Dislike for Fame
Though Cillian Murphy is a renowned and talented star who rose to fame because of versatility, hard work, dedication, and his love for acting, Murphy is certainly not a great fan of fame, media attention, and the limelight. A quiet person by nature, Murphy prefers a simple life away from the chaos and knows that with success comes fame in entertainment but does not wish to soak himself in the spotlight.
The Inception star even moved back to Dublin with his wife and his kids for the very same reason of protecting his personal life and his family’s privacy. In a recent interview, he again expressed his discomfort with fame and the public attention that comes along with it as a by-product.
The Thomas Shelby actor was quoted saying, “I don’t go out. I’m just at home mostly, or with my friends, unless I have a film to promote.” In fact, the actor even attends film premieres alone and has a great dislike for the paparazzi or being incessantly photographed.
Murphy was noted saying, “I don’t like being photographed by people. I find that offensive. If I was a woman, and it was a man photographing me…”
