During an interview, Dakota Johnson mentioned that she believes the theory of Nepotism is absolutely annoying. After the release of Madame Web, it has been speculated that if Madame Web fell flat at the box office, then Johnson’s tone-deaf response to the Nepo Baby debate could lead to career suicide.

Being the daughter of actor duo Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, Dakota Johnson is the face of Nepotism in Hollywood. The Persuasion actor spoke about Nepotism in Hollywood during an interview with the reputed media outlet, Today. During the interview, Dakota Johnson was asked about her thoughts on the Nepo baby debate. The Cha Cha Real Smooth actor admitted that she finds the entire debate very lame. She said-
“When that first started, I found it to be incredibly annoying and boring. Like, if you’re a journalist, write about something else. It’s just lame.”
She further continued,
“If you’re a journalist, write about something else. That’s just lame. So the opportunity to make fun of it, I jumped at.”
Dakota Johnson was not impressed with the concept of Nepotism and Nepo babies in Hollywood. The debate on Nepo babies gained popularity after the famous entertainment outlet Vulture published a comprehensive guide to all Nepo babies in the entertainment industry.

Dakota Johnson was also slammed by the netizens on social media for her tone-deaf response to the Nepo baby debate. It has been speculated that if Madame Web fails to make an impact both critically and financially, it can lead to the end of her Hollywood career.

Actress Dakota Johnson plays the character of Cassandra Castle Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan with clairvoyant abilities. During the promotion of her romantic drama Cha Cha Real Smooth on ET Online in 2022, the actor spoke about her Madame Web experience. Though she remained tight-lipped, but went on to talk about her experience of filming her first Marvel project. She said-
“I can tell you pretty much nothing that isn’t already on the Internet. It’s pretty cool to be in the Marvel world, especially with a character that’s not so known. There’s a lot of space for us to make her very cool and I’m so excited.”

During an interview with Variety in 2023, The Lost Daughter actor described working on Madame Web as a wild experience. She said-
“I don’t think you can be prepped to go into anything like that, but I learned so much. It’s a completely different way of making films, you know.”
