The Twilight series, which engaged audiences with its captivating universe of vampires, werewolves, and forbidden love, has left an unforgettable mark on the entertainment world.

However, behind the immense success and stardom it brought, one of its stars, Anna Kendrick, revealed that her experience on the set was far from smooth sailing.

In a revealing 2020 interview, she likened filming Twilight to enduring a trauma event and described the atmosphere as resembling a hostage situation.

Further, the Pitch Perfect performer explained,

“I just remember my Converse being completely soaked through and feeling like, You know, this is a really great group of people, and I’m sure that we would be friends at a different time, but I want to murder everyone. Although, it was also kind of bonding. There was something about it, like if you go through some traumatic event. Like you imagine people who survive a hostage situation, and you’re kind of bonded for life.”

Interestingly, Kendrick also acknowledged the unexpected bonding that occurred among the cast. She compared it to the way people form lifelong connections after surviving a traumatic event. The shared experience developed a unique bond that exceeded the screen.

Reflecting on her character’s memorable graduation speech in the third installment, she humbly dismissed praise for her delivery, attributing the speech’s impact to the 33-year-old’s remarkable acting abilities.

However, more than a decade after the franchise’s conclusion, Kendrick also reflected on the overwhelming fame experienced by her co-stars during the peak years of Twilight.

Robert Pattinson starred opposite Stewart as Edward Cullen, the mysterious vampire with whom Bella falls in love while grappling with his family’s hidden secrets. Kendrick, meanwhile, portrayed popular girl Jessica Stanley, Bella’s unexpected first friend in Forks.

The Twilight saga went on to achieve tremendous success, amassing over $3.346 billion globally. However, as the years passed since the franchise’s conclusion, Kendrick reflected on the temporary nature of their once-unparalleled stardom.

Discussing her own experience, she revealed that, for the most part, she was able to go undercover in public, unlike her fellow cast members. She said,

“At that time, I was this satellite figure in those movies…I could still walk down the street fine—though some of them did still recognize me from them. At the time, it felt like, ‘Oh, these people have become the most famous people on planet Earth, and it’s going to stay this way forever.”

Despite the changes in their levels of fame, Kendrick has embraced her career beyond the Twilight universe, taking on diverse roles and showcasing her talent.
