SUMMARY
  • Jacob Elordi has starred in some of the movies to date and it includes Saltburn which featured some intense homoerotic scenes.
  • His next movie On Swift Horses, in which he will romance Diego Calva, will take explicit scenes up by a notch.
  • Calva had confirmed having explicit scenes in the movie during an interview with Variety in early 2023.

Last year’s Saltburn turned out to be a cultural phenomenon which is evident from the fact that Jacob Elordi and Barry Keoghan are still turning heads when they are in the same room. The black comedy psychological thriller sent everyone into a spin with its plot which included some rather NSFW scenes.

A majority of these NSFW scenes concerned Elordi and Keoghan. The latter more considering his character, Oliver Quick’s, carefree and bold dance with no clothes on whatsoever throughout Felix Catton’s house. However, it appears as though Elordi is going to have his own share of explicit scenes in his upcoming movie, On Swift Horses.

Jacob Elordi Might Leave Saltburn Behind in Terms of Explicit Scenes in On Swift Horses

Jacob Elordi seems to have a unique and eclectic taste when it comes to picking projects. He rose to fame with his lead role as a bad boy love interest in Netflix’s The Kissing Booth film series. Then came HBO’s Euphoria which catapulted him to international recognition as Nate Jacobs, a teen with anger issues who had a complicated relationship with his father.

Since then, he has appeared in the satirical drama The Sweet East, the crime thriller He Went That Way, and the biographical drama Priscilla, which is perhaps his most popular role to date. Saltburn was released in the same year as Priscilla.

This stands as proof of the fact that the Australian actor, who almost headed back home because his Hollywood future was looking bleak, has a range not seen in many. His next big thing is the drama On Swift Horses, which is studded with up-and-coming stars like Twisters‘ Daisy Edgar-Jones, The Bear’s Will Poulter, and Babylon‘s Diego Calva.

According to a recent Vanity Fair interview, Elordi’s Julius and Calva’s Henry will have a romantic relationship in the movie which will include “several rich, emotional, and explicit love scenes”. So, if fans thought that Saltburn was too hot to handle, they might need to brace themselves for what is heading toward them in this upcoming flick in which Elordi is playing a queer lover.

On Swift Horses, adapted from Shannon Pufahl’s 2019 novel, sees Julius, a Korean war veteran hitchhiking to his newly married brother, Lee’s (Poulter) house. Sparks fly between Julius and Lee’s wife Muriel (Edgar-Jones) the moment they make eye contact.

Although Lee, unaware of Julius and Muriel’s emotional dependency, wants the three of them to build a life together, Julius disappears one day and moves to Las Vegas. After moving to San Diego with her husband, Muriel becomes fascinated with horse racing, while Julius explores his hidden queer desires in Las Vegas with Diego Calva’s Henry.

Back in early 2023, Calva told Variety that the film would have some “hot scenes”.

I don’t know if I can say this but we are going to have pretty hot scenes in this movie…You have to wait. But I think it will be a pretty cool movie.

The Golden Globe nominee also praised his co-star Elordi during his short conversation with the outlet.

It was so cool to work with him. He’s obsessed with photography, he’s obsessed with old plays. He loves Tennessee Williams, he loves Chekhov. He’s not the guy you maybe think he is. He’s such a cool actor. He’s just amazing. I feel very proud.

Directed by Daniel Minahan, who directed Game of Thrones and several episodes of Showtime’s hit queer drama series Fellow Travelers, the film explores themes of identity, freedom, and longing across changing landscapes. It premiered at the Toronto Film Festival on September 7.
