TRIGGER WARNING
Once regarded as a music icon, Sean Diddy Combs is credited with the discovery and training of artists including Usher, Mary J. Blige, and more. In 1997, the rapper-record producer and record executive held the title of Most Successful Rap Producer by the Guinness World Record. He is recognized as one of the most successful and wealthiest musical artists worldwide.
However, things haven’t been the same for Diddy since late 2023, after his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura officially filed a lawsuit in November 2023 against the artist for s**ual assault. The two had a long-term relationship from 2007 to 2018, and in her lawsuit, she alleged that Combs subjected her to a decade-long cycle of abuse, violence, and s*x trafficking. The lawsuit was settled outside of court only for the music artist to get embroiled in multiple other lawsuits. The artist was arrested in Manhattan on September 16, 2024.
Sean Diddy Combs pleads ‘not guilty’ in s*x trafficking case
According to reports from the BBC, record producer Sean Diddy Combs was arrested in Manhattan on September 16, 2024, after a grand jury indictment. The prosecutors have stated that since 2008, the artist was running a criminal enterprise that relied on drugs and violence to force women to ‘fulfill his s**ual desires’. He has been accused of coercing multiple women into performing extended orchestrated s**ual acts with s*x workers known as freak-offs.
In a 14-page indictment that was unsealed in federal court in New York City, Diddy Combs was charged with s*x trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution. People report that Diddy and his associates would allegedly lure people under the pretense of a romantic relationship and later use force, threats of force, and coercion to get them to participate in the freak-offs.
The artist has pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the alleged charges, and his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, had mentioned that he’d fight to get the rapper released. He said,
He’s going to fight this with all of his energy all of his might and the full confidence of his lawyers, and I expect a long battle with a good result for Mr. Combs.
Prosecutors have alleged that back in March, when Homeland Security raided Sean Diddy Combs’ Los Angeles and Miami properties, they had found the supplies for the ‘freaks offs’. The supplies included drugs and over 1000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant. Homeland Security also found three semi-automatic rifles with defaced serial numbers and a drum magazine.
Cassie Ventura, in her lawsuit against Diddy Combs, had also mentioned freak-offs, stating that she was forced to participate in them. The BBC noted that if convicted on all three counts, Sean Diddy Combs can face a sentence of 15 years up to life in prison. He was denied bail after he pleaded not guilty on September 17, 2024.
Meek Mill speaks out on speculated ‘romantic relationship’ with Sean Diddy Combs
The rap artist Meek Mill back in April took to his social media to write,
I don’t believe any Diddy story once they lied about me now! If anybody tries to sexually assault me; it will be a bang out on the spot how y’all don’t know that, lol. I don’t care, but y’all are confusing my son; he’s 12. With people saying his dad is gay, it’s sick now outchea, so fuck it.
The statement from Mill comes after fans questioned him for being one of the redacted names listed in a lawsuit against Sean Diddy Combs brought in by Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones. When a fan suggested to him that he has the right to remain silent, he took to his social media to reply, saying,
I have the right to say I’m not gay, and I’ll trash anybody who plays with my manhood.
Lil Rod alleged in the lawsuit that Combs had told him that he had s*x with an unnamed rapper, an R&B singer, and Bad Boy producer Steve J. The footnote in the lawsuit mentioned that the rapper, whose name was redacted, was a ‘Philadelphia rapper who dated Nicki Minaj. Mill and Minaj dated from 2015 to 2017. (via Page Six)
The R&B singer was described as someone who performed at Superbowl and had a successful Vegas residency. Lil Rod filed a lawsuit alleging the record producer, while working on his album The Love Album: Off the Grid, had s*xually assaulted him from September 2022 to November 2023. He mentioned that Diddy would grope him and groom him into having s*x, adding that he was subjected to unwarranted s**ual attention from Combs’ associates.
Diddy’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, denied the allegations, mentioning that Lil Rod is a liar who filed a $30 million lawsuit to look for undeserved pay. The attorney also mentioned that Rodney Jones’ lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn, refused to return their calls, and thus they’d address the allegations in court.
Sean Diddy Combs is currently being detained in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center.
