The London premiere of Denis Villeneuve-directed Dune: Part Two has been making headlines. With the entire cast being present in Dune-inspired costumes, the premiere looked no less than a scene from the fantasy drama. As Dune: Part Two is gradually moving toward its theatrical release fans just cannot contain their excitement.

With the kind of buzz surrounding Dune: Part Two, fans believe that the Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve would step back from television shows after the filmmaker has backed out from directing a Jake Gyllenhall-led HBO show.

Denis Villeneuve Steps Back From Directing HBO’s Limited Series Son 

After the colossal success of Dune Part One in 2021, fans cannot wait for the second chapter of the Dilen Villeneuve-led fantasy drama’s theatrical release. His remarkable filmography needs no introduction in Hollywood. Villeneuve has been the brain behind shows like Incendies, Enemy, Sicario, and Maelstrom. He was supposed to direct Jake Gyllenhaal-led HBO’s limited series Son, but he believes that he is incapable of tackling the project.

However, fans believe that the colossal success of Dune: Part Two would force Denis Villeneuve to step back from the world of television. Fans took to social media and reacted to Denis Villeneuve’s decision to step back. An X user even mentioned-

“I’m having my DARK KNIGHT moment and would never even dream of doing television now.”

The Arrival filmmaker was also compared to Christopher Nolan. Fans believe that he is walking in the footsteps of the legendary director and will end up developing a strong mass following.

Director Denis Villeneuve Believes Dune Part Two Is Better Than Dune First Chapter

During the promotion of Dune: Part Two, director Denis Villeneuve spoke about his upcoming project. While talking about the movie during an interview with Variety, the Arrival filmmaker mentioned that the second installment of Dune is much better than the first installment of the fantasy drama. He said-

“For me, this film is much better than ‘Part One. There’s something more alive in it. There’s a relationship to the characters. I was trying to reach for an intensity and a quality of emotions that I didn’t reach with ‘Part One’ and that I did reach with ‘Part Two.’ I’m not saying the film is perfect, but I’m much more happy with ‘Part Two’ than I was with ‘Part One.’ I cannot wait to share it with the fans and the moviegoers.”

Denis Villeneuve even mentioned about the third chapter of Dune. He revealed that he is currently writing Dune: Messiah and is about to complete the screenplay. He said-

“The screenplay is almost finished but it is not finished. It will take a little time. There’s a dream of making a third movie…It would make absolute sense to me. I don’t know exactly when I will go back to Arrakis. I might make a detour before just to go away from the sun. For my mental sanity, I might do something in between, but my dream would be to go a last time on this planet that I love.”

Reputed names from Hollywood include Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, Dave Bautista, Rebecca Ferguson, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgård, Austin Butler, and Florence Pugh would be seen in Dune: Part Two.

Dune: Part Two will be released on March 1, 2024.
