A video from the Bad Boy 4 premiere went viral, showing Martin Lawrence appearing unsteady while greeting the crowd with co-star Will Smith. This immediately sparked speculation about Lawrence’s health.
During their appearance on Hot 97’s Ebro, host Ebro Darden specifically questioned Lawrence and Smith about the online rumors about his health. Darden questioned:
Now Martin… everybody’s talking [about] you on the balcony waving at people, [you’re] looking around, where you’re looking around? … people took it like something was wrong with your health, or something.
Lawrence laughed, expressing his astonishment at the magnitude of the audience, saying,
I’m healthy as hell. Stop the rumors!
Further talking about it, the actor remarked, stating he’s blessed and in God’s hand. The You So Crazy comedy star asks rumor mongers to shut down these rumors as there’s no need to be concerned.

However, the 59-year-old has experienced health issues in the past. The actor was briefly admitted to the hospital in May 1996 after he screamed and ran into traffic in Los Angeles. A doctor later identified Lawrence’s severe fatigue and dehydration.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lawrence experienced another medical catastrophe in 1999 when he collapsed from acute heat exhaustion while exercising. That time, he was admitted to the hospital and went into a three-day coma.
While Martin Lawrence laughed off the online speculation during a recent interview, concerns about his health had previously reached a fever pitch on social media.
