“I’m never going to be fat again”: One Oscar-Winning Movie Made Chris Pratt Fat-Shame Himself into Becoming an Ultra-Jacked Muscle God for Guardians of the Galaxy
Actor Chris Patt famously, known for his role as Star-Lord, might look fit after his time in Guardians of the Galaxy. But Pratt in Parks and Recreation didn’t have any six packs, and the lovable Andy Dwyer was found to be adorable and chubby. Initially, the actor loved the way he looked, but after a while, things didn’t seem all that realistic anymore, and he gradually became insecure about the weight gain.
Chris Pratt’s top-notch as Andy Dwyer despite disliking his fatty appearance
In the early season of the TV show Parks and Recreation, Chris Pratt had a larger, less muscular figure. Although he was conflicted about his appearance, Pratt found his performance in the sitcom to the top-notch. Pratt in Jimmy Kimmel Live Entertainment Tonight opened up about his transformation and how it impacted his career.
“Well, I remember in the first couple of seasons, just unintentionally, I had gotten a little fat and I was watching the episodes and I was like, ‘Oh, God, Chris, you’ve really let yourself go. And then I was like, ‘But this is some of the funniest stuff you’ve ever done”.
However, as time passed, Pratt began to encounter serious consequences from his weight gain. He confessed to experiencing various health issues beyond mere physical appearance. “My bones ached, I had cardiovascular issues, I was unhealthy, and I was feeling rotten,” the Jurassic World actor, 35, told GQ’s June issue.

Additionally, he realized that his weight gain was affecting his mental and emotional well-being. “I was impotent, fatigued, and emotionally depressed. Pratt once told Men’s Health.
I had real health issues that were affecting me in a major way. It’s bad for your heart, your skin, your system, your spirit”.
Before Pratt starred in his iconic Brat Pitt film Moneyball, his fat was something that held him back. Despite receiving positive feedback from Pitt and crew members, they felt that he wasn’t fit to play the role of a physically demanding character. This experience led Pratt to contemplate taking action on his physique.

Zero Dark Thirty inspired Chris Pratt’s lasting health transformation
Pratt’s weight fluctuated over the years for various roles, but it was his involvement in the film Zero Dark Thirty that made him decide to make a permanent change. He elaborated on Men’s Health that after seeing the film, he decided to prioritize his health and committed to never letting himself go back to being overweight.
“I’d gone back and forth, lost weight for Moneyball, got fat again, then trimmed down for Zero Dark Thirty, then gained it all back again for Andy. That’s when I saw Zero Dark Thirty and right after walking out I was like: ‘I’m going to get in shape and I’m never going to be fat again”.
In 2014, Pratt, on his weight loss journey, posted a shirtless picture on Instagram, displaying his muscular physique. In the subsequent year, he appointed personal trainer Duffy Graver and nutritionist Phil Goglia to initiate a 60-pound weight-loss endeavor. On the Men’s Health platform, he also updated that he managed to lose 35 pounds in just six weeks, which was a remarkable achievement for him.
