“I’m not even going to fight it”: Niall Horan Steals Away The Voice Contestant From Veteran Coaches After Singer Left Him Stumped With Harry Styles’ Breakout Song
Niall James Horan is an established Irish singer-songwriter. He rose to fame upon starting his singing career on The X Factor show, and then the jury formed the band, One Direction in 2010. He joined the band with his fellow contestants as Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik.
Before calling it quits in 2016, the former band released their final album, Made In The A.M. The following year Horan’s debuted his first solo song, This Town, which received a positive response from his fans. The Irish singer is now a coach on season 23 of The Voice America.
Niall Horan chose a singer on The Voice that Kelly Clarkson wanted
The Night Changes singer and The Voice show’s other coaches, Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper, and Blake Shelton, compete in the third round of blind auditions in the March 13 episode. The battle to win Laura Littleton for Team Clarkson began when she chose to sing Harry Styles’s song, Sign of the Times.
The Breakaway singer realized that Littleton’s voice sounds similar to that of a country artist, and used her single block on Blake Shelton before he turned his chair. She thought it was a good option until she noticed the connection between her competition Horan and the song the contestant chose to sing.
Kelly Clarkson loses a singer to Niall Horan as she regrets blocking Blake Shelton
The American singer Blake Shelton notes that Littleton is a country girl but not a country artist, and Clarkson quickly admits that she should have blocked Niall Horan.
“I should’ve blocked Niall!” Clarkson yelled. The Steal My Girl singer then responded, “I know him!” referring to his former bandmate Harry Styles before convincing the Contestant with his pitch.
He continued,
“Sign of the Times, when it came out, it wasn’t your obvious pop song. It was a bit alt, off to the left a bit, and that’s what you scream. There’s so many different artists, so many different genres I could hear you sing.”
After hearing Nialll Horan’s clever pitch, Laura Littleton made her final decision to join his team.
