Sandra Bullock Was Hesitant To Be Intimate With Keanu Reeves in The Lake House
After working with him in the 1994 action thriller film Speed, Sandra Bullock reunited with her co-star, Keanu Reeves, 12 years later. The duo starred together a second time for The Lake House which was a fantasy romance film whereas their first film Speed was pure action. A remake of the 2000 South Korean film Il Mare, The Lake House starred Bullock and Reeves as two anonymous lovers who would write each other letters, slowly falling for each other in the process.
Bullock quipped that their coming together for another film was mainly due to Reeves’ secret crush on her. While talking to MovieWeb about the romantic drama, Bullock said, “It came out of nowhere,” “It came at us from two different directions. It was at a strange time and I was like, ‘I’m not ready to do this and I read it and I went wow!’ Actually, I found out about it through another director of mine, Paul Haggis, who said, ‘You should read this, it’s brilliant.’”
She then talked about her experience of working with Reeves for the second time and about their intimate moments in the film. Bullock shared, “Well I think it’s a little scary to get intimate. When you have an inanimate object like a bus and the action and energy outside of yourselves, you have part of your self,”
She continued, “But when we had to be together, we had to be together in the most intimate of ways. I think I got to see his history and what he has experienced these past 10 years, and who he is as now as a man, just as good as when I first met him, but that much more open.” Both of them have remained great friends over the years.

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock first crossed paths while starring in the 1994 film Speed. Reeves later revealed that he had a crush on his former co-star Sandra Bullock during the shooting of Speed back in 1994. When Bullock was asked about working with Reeves, she had said, “I think about how sweet Keanu Reeves was and how handsome he was.”
Though Bullock clarified to Esquire that, despite rumors to the contrary, she and the actor have never been anything more than platonic friends. She added that she’s glad nothing romantic ever transpired because they’ve built a beautiful friendship together. Addressing to dating rumors Bullock once said, “I never dated him. There was something about me that I guess he didn’t like!”
Reeves also mentioned once about their wonderful chemistry and praised Bullock as an artist and a person. He also expressed his excitement and interest about getting a chance to perform with her again.
