During an appearance on the Actors On Actors segment by the reputed media outlet Variety in 2023, the Oppenheimer star and Anne Hathaway went down memory lane with respect to their first collaboration, The Devil Wears Prada. 

While talking about a blooper reel, Emily Blunt revealed an embarrassing moment on her first day of shooting.

“And it’s when I’m running down the corridor, pushing everyone out of the way, and I’m not very good at walking in heels.”

While pointing towards Anne Hathaway, Emily continued-

“This person is unbelievable in heels, as you have seen in The Devil Wears Prada, she’s just like leaping around, cobblestone streets in five inches stilettos. I was like’ Oh I’d be dead, my knees they’d be gone. But I remember racing down the corridor, and it was a kind of I guess, it was on a dolly or something. And I’m racing down and I’m supposed to crash into Meryl, or try almost crash into her at the end.”

Emily Blunt fell flat on her face in front of Meryl Streep on the first day of The Devil Wears Prada shoot. According to the actor, the incident was so embarrassing that she still remembers every little detail of that day.

Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway share a common factor. Both the actors have worked with the brilliant filmmaker Christopher Nolan. Emily Blunt played the character of J. Robert Oppenheimer’s wife in Oppenheimer and Anne Hathaway portrayed the role of NASA Scientist Dr. Amelia Brand in Interstellar. 

During an episode of Variety’s Actors On Actors, both Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway reunited after their first collaboration in The Devil Wears Prada. The actor duo even spoke about Christopher Nolan and how prominently his appearance changes during extreme cold conditions, and his work. Anne Hathaway said-

“That’s a perfect name for him. When we did “Interstellar,” Matthew McConaughey noted that when we were up in the glacier, the colder it was and the harder the conditions were, the bluer Chris’ eyes became. And the blonder his hair.”

“I always feel that with Chris’ hair. I can tell when he is very happy with a take because his hair starts to dance. It’s almost like he vibrates when he’s happy. He’s not going to tell you that he’s that happy, though, because he’s very English.”

While talking about the Dunkirk director, Anne Hathaway said-

“The part that blows my mind about Chris is that he is authoritative in the best sense of the word. I remember one day we were doing a shot on “The Dark Knight Rises.” He came to me beforehand and said, “I just want you to know, this shot has lived in my head for many years. I’m going to be very specific about it. I’m going to make you do it a lot, but it’s not actually you. It’s just because I have it in my head a certain way.”

Christopher Nolan was awarded his first Golden Globe Award for Oppenheimer under the category of Best Director of a Motion Picture. The epic saga went on to sweep multiple nominations and awards in the prestigious ceremony.
