Avengers: Endgame is about to release in less than a month now, and as we are moving closer to its release, many fans are wondering how they should watch the film. A regular theater also sounds fine although you will have a few more options on your hands. Endgame will release in IMAX, 3D and RPX. A new Avengers: Endgame IMAX featurette gets into the details with directors Anthony and Joe Russo about how they used cameras for Endgame and what those cameras contribute to the overall experience. The difference will also be visually illustrated, giving rise to an engaging debate if fans should watch the film in IMAX.

“It just made sense to us that the grandest cinematic event in Marvel history should be executed in full IMAX,” Joe Russo said. “The level of ambition in these films is pretty high. We needed equipment that could help us fulfill that ambition. As filmmakers, it’s an important and amazing tool for us. The way that it captures light. The way that it captures color. They are fantastic cameras. The chip is incredible. It’s at a resolution that is unprecedented.”

Then, they showed the difference between an IMAX movie screen and a normal movie screen. “The IMAX screen has a different height than a traditional movie screen,” Joe said. To put it simply, IMAX allows viewers to till 26% more screen, and as you may notice in the featurette, the difference can make a huge difference, which just depends on what scene you’re seeing.

“Having that extra verticality gives us a wider range of how we frame, how we shoot these characters,” Anthony said. “It’s just presented on a much grander scale than a traditional movie theater,” Joe added.

Fans are anticipating the last chapter of phase 3 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which will conclude with Avengers: Endgame.
