Cavill first landed on the radars of the ever-enthusiastic netizens when he began starring in The Tudors. He has been praised for his fit body since then, and yet it is quite surprising that he has not received the title of People’s Sexiest Man Alive. Fans have taken note of it and the magazine might have some answering to do this time around.

People magazine started the tradition of naming one celebrity as the sexiest of all in 1985. Mel Gibson was the first actor ever to receive the title. Over the years, celebs and notable persons like Blake Shelton, John Legend, John F Kennedy, Jr, Nick Nolte, Brad Pitt and many others have been given the title. Last year, the title went to Patrick Dempsey.
Henry Cavill, widely known for his role as Superman in Zack Snyder’s DCEU, has been maintaining a bulky physique for his action-heavy roles for over a decade. His run as Superman earned him worldwide recognition and then his role as Geralt of Rivia in Netflix’s The Witcher only added to it.
Needless to say, he kept his body lean and muscular as ever. It is hard to imagine a time when Cavill was not at the top of his physique game. This had led some to wonder how he has never been named People‘s Sexiest Man Alive while others are hoping that he will be chosen this time.
The recipient of the title for this year is going to be announced on November 12th, so fans will have to wait until then to find out if Cavill finally gets it considering he has been deserving of it for years.
Henry Cavill Was Insecure About His Looks as a Kid
As hard as it is to imagine Henry Cavill of all people to have body image issues or insecurities regarding his looks, it is true. He has addressed it multiple times over the years including the Men’s Health cover issue of December 2019.

He was taunted for his weight and had earned himself the rather unflattering nickname ‘Fat Cavill’. Luckily, he did not let this deter him and focused on the brighter side.
It actually helped me survive. Even the kids who were nasty to me at times and took pleasure in squashing me—when I finished a play, they’d say, ‘Wow, you’re really good.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, this is where I draw my strength from.’
As for his looks, his physique speaks for him. Although People magazine has not given him the title of the Sexiest Man Alive, Glamour magazine did it in 2013. That same year, he ranked third on Empire magazine’s list of ‘The 100 Sexiest Movie Stars 2013′. It has to be noted that the former of these was a fan poll. So, if it were in the fans’ hands, perhaps Cavill would have won the title from People at least a couple of times by now.
