‘Iron Claw’ Actor Reveals the Most “Terrifying” Part of His Role Was Behind the Scenes of Zac Efron Film
Zac Efron’s The Iron Claw was released in December 2023. Not even a month into the release of the sports biopic, Zac Efron has been making headlines with his terrific performance as Kevin Von Erich. The biopic is based on the legendary Von Erich brothers who dominated the world of wrestling during the 1980s. The Iron Claw also features The Bear star Jeremy White Allen as Kerry Von Erich.

During a recent interview with a media outlet, actor Stanley Simons who plays the character of Mike, one of the brothers of the Von Erich clan spoke about the most terrifying scene that took place during the filming of the sports biopic.
Actor Stanley Simons Revealed About One Of The Most Terrifying Parts From Behind The Scenes Of The Iron Claw
Sydney-born actor Stanley Simons plays a significant role in the sports biopic The Iron Claw. This is one of the biggest projects of Simons’ acting career. The actor appeared in an interview with Interview Magazine recently. He spoke about the legendary Von Erich brothers, his experience working with Zac Efron and Jeremy Allen White, and even revealed one of the most terrifying parts of filming wrestling scenes the Angelfish actor said-
“We’d learn the choreography for the match and then we’d film it all the way through. It was like a play. We do it five times, 10 times. I only had two scenes of wrestling.”
While talking about one of the most terrifying parts of filming the wrestling scenes, he said-
“No, but the first time being in my undies in front of a bunch of people and the whole crew was a little terrifying. Yeah, you come in and you’re just like, “Hey,” and everyone’s super quiet and then they’re like, “Action.” and everyone’s yelling and cheering, and then they yell, “Cut,” and they’re quiet again. You’re just trying to cross your legs. There’s no way to stand in the Speedo and look cool.”

The Iron Claw Director Talks About What Led To The Making Of Zac Efron’s Sports Biopic
During the promotion of The Iron Claw, filmmaker Sean Durkin appeared for an interview with the media outlet ComicBook in December 2023. The director spoke about what led to the making of the sports biopic. While explaining the cinematography of the movie, he said-
“When I approached a match, I first and foremost thought about the emotion of the match. What’s the best place for the camera to tell the emotional story Kevin is going through? That was always guiding first, but also I wanted to have a sense that WCCW was the first company using handheld cameras on the side of the mat, so to have a bit of in-ring handheld, and then cut to the very famous TV angle.”
He further explained-
“To have that combination in certain moments, but also have the liberty to cut out wide to see the whole place. We made different decisions based on that and tried to walk that line between experiencing the wrestling, but breaking it and being more subjective.”
The Iron Claw tells the story of how wrestling played both boon and bane for the Von Erich brothers. They were pressured by their father to pursue wrestling. From achieving great success in the ring to grieving the untimely death of their siblings- the biopic simply stands out with respect to its compelling storytelling and great performance by actors like Zac Efron.
The Iron Claw is currently running in theatres.
