The Microsoft co-founder bought the property for his daughter, Jennifer Gates, so she would have a place to stay after she graduates from Stanford University. The billionaire dropped $5 million for the condo at 1212 Fifth Ave in 2018. It is now on the market listed for $4.75 million. His daughter is all set to welcome her first child with her husband, Nayel Nassar. She stopped living at the condo a while ago so it makes sense why Gates decided to sell it.
Bill Gates is selling his daughter’s house
In May 2018, billionaire Bill Gates bought a lavish condo for $5 million in New York City for his daughter, Jennifer Gates. The purpose of the house was simple, she needed a place to stay after she graduates from Stanford University. However, his daughter got married to Nayel Nassar in October 2021, and the two are now set to welcome their first child, so it seems like the house is not big enough for her family. The property is now listed for $4.75 million, and her father doesn’t really mind the loss.

The condo is located in New York City
The nearly 2,400-square-foot home is at 1212 Fifth Ave. The condo features three bedrooms, coffered ceilings, and huge windows which allow plenty of sunlight to illuminate the house. The view is quite beautiful as it overlooks Central Park. The building offers several services like a 24/7 concierge-attended lobby, a live-in resident manager, a 2,600-square-foot fitness center, a residents’ lounge, and even a children’s playroom. It’s quite surprising that the Microsoft co-founder decided to let go of this lavish property in the heart of New York City.
Bill Gates will retire soon
Last week, Bill Gates revealed in his blog that he finally plans on retiring. He explained that he doesn’t really care where he stands on the World’s Richest People list and even plans on getting “off” it. He wrote,
“I turned 67 in October. It’s hard to believe I’m that old — in America, most people my age are retired! Although I don’t care where I rank on the list of the world’s richest people. I do know that as I succeed in giving, I will drop down and eventually off the list altogether.”
The tech mogul further revealed that he is excited to be a grandfather. He added,
“I started looking at the world through a new lens recently — when my older daughter gave me the incredible news that I’ll become a grandfather next year. Simply typing that phrase, ‘I’ll become a grandfather next year,’ makes me emotional. And the thought gives a new dimension to my work. When I think about the world my grandchild will be born into, I’m more inspired than ever to help everyone’s children and grandchildren have a chance to survive and thrive.”
His daughter got married to Nayel Nassar in October 2021, and she is expected to give birth to a baby girl in a few weeks.
