Is Ebon Moss-Bachrach Really Playing The Thing? The Bear Star Finally Breaks Silence on Marvel Debut
Hollywood’s rumor mill, specifically the one concerning the casting of the Fantastic Four reboot, seems to be back in action. According to the mill, the actors for the movie are locked, and the official announcements are not too far away in the future. This brings us to wonder if Ebon Moss-Bachrach has got the deal sealed.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach is rumored to be cast as Ben Grimm a.k.a. The Thing in the Fantastic Four reboot. When the actor was asked about it recently, he answered in such a way that it has only added to the excitement of the fans to find out who has been cast as their favorite superhero.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach on If He Has Been Cast as The Thing
Rumors about Ebon Moss-Bachrach getting cast in Fantastic Four started circulating on the internet last year. In August 2023, The Hot Mic host Jeff Sneider suggested that the actor has been cast as The Thing. The thing with such rumors in Hollywood is that they have to be taken with a grain of salt (or spice, if you will).
That being said, during a recent conversation with The Wrap, when the actor was asked about his casting as Ben Grimm, he decided to prolong the wait for the fans by saying:
“Oh, I can’t confirm, and I can’t deny, I think.”
Moss-Bachrach has answered in true MCU star style as he did not completely outrule the possibility that he is going to star as Ben. The thing with the MCU stars is that they cannot be completely trusted with what they say even if they do deny certain things.
Andrew Garfield, having fans (even co-star Emma Stone) convinced for several months that he did not have anything to do with Spider-Man: No Way Home is probably the biggest example of that. Although we can’t really complain about that since it was a very pleasant surprise to see him in the Spidey suit again.
Rumors about the Casting of Other Characters in the Fantastic Four Reboot
If Ebon Moss-Bachrach does get cast as Ben Grimm in the reboot, it will be his second role in the MCU. He has previously appeared as Microchip in the Daredevil spin-off series The Punisher, which was released on Netflix. Not so long ago, Marvel Studios announced that The Punisher is a part of the MCU, so the Emmy-winning actor is already an MCU star.
Although John Krasinski played an alternate version of Reed Richards a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness, he has clarified that he will not be returning for the role. As of now, it is heavily rumored that The Last of Us star Pedro Pascal will be seen in that role. The official announcement has not been made, but some major outlets have reported on it.
Additionally, Vanessa Kirby is rumored to be starring as Sue Storm a.k.a. Invisible Woman. The actress has been as secretive as Moss-Bachrach about it as in late November 2023, she said something similar to him when asked about it.
Joseph Quinn is the rumored cast member who has been reported to be cast in the role of Johnny Storm a.k.a. Human Torch. Quinn is most popularly known for his role as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things.
