The Flash is an upcoming superhero film starring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen. This is the thirteenth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which James Gunn and Peter Safran have since renamed the DC Universe (DCU). The Flash is based on the DC Comics character of the same name, produced in collaboration with Warner Bros. by DC Studios, Double Dream, and the Disco Factory.

After numerous setbacks and conflicts, the Andy Muschietti-directed film is finally poised to be released. But what if we were to inform you that Nicolas Cage, not Henry Cavill, plays the role of Superman in the film?

Nicolas Cage To Debut As Superman In DC’s The Flash

Recently, there was a rumor that Nicolas Cage might be sporting the Man of Steel cape in the upcoming film, which will be led by Ezra Miller. Furthermore, it looks like the rumors were true.

Andy Muschietti, the director of The Flash, merely revealed Nicolas Cage’s portrayal of Superman in the picture.

Muschietti confirmed the rumor and acknowledged the Oscar winner’s assumption of the role in an interview with Esquire Middle East. Cage was commended by the director as “absolutely wonderful.

He dove into it, even though it was just a cameo.

Nicolas Cage wearing blue spandex could possibly appear after all. The actor had led the charge to produce a fresh live-action Superman movie in the 1990s, in which he would feature as the Man of Steel. Following his acclaimed work on the first Batman movie and its sequel, Batman Returns, Tim Burton was once brought on to the project to serve as a director. But the movie was abandoned before actual filming could begin, Cage had gone as far as performing screen tests in the role.

For actor Nicolas Cage, it would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity because he would purportedly appear alongside Michael Keaton, who would be playing Batman once more. Fans of Henry Cavill are miffed that the British actor won’t be appearing as a superhero in the cameo.

We don’t understand why Muschietti would drop such a huge bomb on the audience just weeks before the movie’s premiere. Nobody knows if he’s revealing these plot details on purpose as part of a premeditated plan or if it was a mistake. However, we do know that Cage’s Superman will only appear in The Flash for this single cameo.

Why Casting Nicolas Cage As Superman Is Historic?

The Flash will currently feature appearances by the stoic Batman played by Michael Keaton, the bored Batman played by Ben Affleck, a new Supergirl who looks and acts nothing like Supergirl, a General Zod no one really cared for to begin with, and another version of The Flash with longer hair and an even worse sense of humor than “regular” Barry. Now, a character that has never appeared on the big screen before will make a cameo appearance.

The Ghost Rider actor might portray Superman in Miller’s upcoming production, but that won’t be his only opportunity to do so. To put it another way, Cage is not a substitute for Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent.

Due to the significant renovations James Gunn and Peter Safran carried out in DC Studios, Cavill was fired from his Superman role, leaving the spot open. There hasn’t been much development regarding who will be portraying the character going forward, despite Gunn’s mention of casting a younger actor for the part and a few casting rumors.

Since some fans have claimed that Superman is dead or doesn’t exist in the parallel reality, it’s unclear exactly how The Flash will fit into Cage’s Superman appearance. However, Cage’s formal appearance as Superman in the movie may comfort those who have stayed interested in Superman Lives all these years.

Not the only veteran making a cameo appearance is Cage. Batman, a character depicted by Michael Keaton twice in Tim Burton movies from 1989 and 1992, will also be back. Additionally, Ben Affleck will play Batman from the DC multiverse twist.

The Flash is set to release worldwide on June 16, 2023.
