After a long break from Hollywood, Oscar-winner Nicolas Cage made a comeback with The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent in 2022. In the movie, Cage was seen alongside Pedro Pascal. Following some global massive hit series like Game of Thrones and The Last of Us, Pascal became a renowned face of Hollywood. While making a movie, there are often scenes that take place unintentionally but later turn out to be a hit. Something similar happened on the sets of Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent when a disagreement between Pascal and Cage turned out to be so neat that the director actually made it a part of the film.
What led to the argument between Pedro Pascal and Nicolas Cage?
Recently, The Mandalorian actor appeared on the show Hot Ones. During a conversation with the host, Sean Evans, Pascal shared that in the movie there was a scene between him and Cage that wasn’t written in the script. The two actors performed it on the spot, and it was liked so much by the director that later it became a part of the film. During the film, every member of the Massive Talent cast was provided with a reversible sequin pillow. The speciality of this pillow was that it had the impression of Cage’s face and signature. In a scene, Pedro Pascal’s character Javi is seen walking along with Cage through his collection of memorabilia.
The pillow that is mentioned in the scene was added against the wishes of Nicolas Cage. Cage wanted to get rid of that pillow, but Pascal told him to keep it in the scene. But Cage was anyway not convinced and was uncomfortable with that pillow. However, this mild discomfiture of Cage played a significant role in the filming of the scene. While describing the behind-the-scenes act, Pascal told Sean Evans,
“He points to it, he’s like, Uh, that’s weird’ and he changed its face. And I was like ‘no, it’s nice and I put it back, and they kept it in the movie. That was definitely an improvised moment, the one time I was disagreeing with him.”

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, released last year, proved to be a turning point in Nicolas Cage’s career. The movie also stars the Last of Us fame Pedro Pascal. Though the movie couldn’t perform well at the box office, the chemistry between Pascal and Cage was well acclaimed by the audience. Recently, the movie again became a buzz among people after a meme was released on TikTok.
After this meme went viral on TikTok, a spike in Google searches for the movie was witnessed. The viral meme is a scene from the movie where Cage and Pascal are seen sitting in the car, looking at each other with polar opposite expressions, while the tune of the song Make Your Own Kind of Music plays in the background.
