Recently, Cillian Murphy starred in what is being dubbed Christopher Nolan’s best movie of all time, Oppenheimer. In a recent interview with The Independent, Murphy was asked if there were any Nolan movies he would have loved to feature in apart from the ones he has already done. It did not take him long to open up about one of his greatest regrets in his career, which is not being able to star in Nolan’s epic space adventure drama Interstellar.

“I adore Interstellar just because I find it so emotional. I remember seeing it in the cinema when I had little kids. It just had a big impact on me. It broke my heart. I love watching his films when I’m not in them because you don’t have to freak out about the size of your ears, or whatever.”

It was evident from the interview that he is also obsessed with cinema. When Murphy was asked which one of Nolan’s movies would be a great double feature with Oppenheimer, he cried out the name of Interstellar again.

“You could go Interstellar, which is very… explores similar scientific, physics themes. Or you could watch Dunkirk, which is also set in World War II. Dunkirk is shorter, so that might be a good match ‘cause it’s like an hour-and-a-half, and then you can go into [‘Oppenheimer’].”

He has also previously given his nod of approval for Snyder’s Watchmen, which he found to be ahead of its time. In an interview with IndieWire, Nolan said:

“Always believed ‘Watchmen’ was ahead of its time. The idea of a superhero team, which it so brilliantly subverts, wasn’t yet a thing in movies. It would have been fascinating to see it released post-Avengers.”

Christopher Nolan served as a producer for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel, which was conceptualized by Nolan and his Dark Knight trilogy co-writer David S. Goyer. Nolan and Zack Snyder have shared mutual adoration and friendship ever since.
