Katy Perry calls her daughter Daisy Dove Bloom her ‘soulmate’
Ahead of the release of her seventh studio album, 143, Katy Perry, in conversation with The Sun, revealed that her upcoming single Lifetimes for her album is inspired by her 3-year-old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom. She shares her daughter with actor Orlando Bloom.
Perry shares that she always wanted to make a dance-pop record, adding that in her upcoming album, one-third is more dance than she has ever done before. She noted one one-third is quintessential pop and then one-third is rhythmic. Talking about her upcoming single, Lifetimes, she shares,
It is funny how sometimes you’re looking for your soulmate in a partner. It could be a dog, your mom, your best friend, or your cat. But for me, it came in the form of Daisy. I wrote Lifetimes about her. Every night, before we go to sleep, I say, ‘I love you,’ and then I ask, ‘Will you find me in every lifetime?’ and she says, ‘Yes’.
Perry continued that her daughter entered her life when she was missing the love she needed and was trying hard to find it. She added that love like that does exist and it will exist for everyone. Lifetimes comes out on August 9, 2024.
The singer was recently criticized for the lead single Woman’s World, which according to NME, some fans suggested was catering to the male gaze rather than challenging it. It goes against what the lyrics represented. Talking about the video she had shared, they were kind of just having fun and being a bit sarcastic with it. Katy Perry noted that the video was supposed to be a slapstick and very on the nose.
Katy Perry’s interview resurfaces Orlando Bloom’s comments about their relationship
After Perry’s interview with The Sun that stated that she found her soulmate in her daughter, and now 3-year-old Daisy entered Perry’s life when love was missing from hers, her beau Orlando Bloom’s comments about their relationship have resurfaced.
In an interview with Flaunt, the actor opened up about his relationship with Perry, describing that it’s not always daisies and daffodils. He added,
We’re in two very different pools. Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands. Sometimes things are really, really, really challenging. I won’t lie.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor mentioned that they battle with their emotions and creativity, but he thinks that they are aware of how blessed they are to have a connection in the way that they did at the time they did. Bloom noted that there is never a dull moment between them.
Katy Perry has also stated in her interview with Vogue in 2020 that it’s exhausting, but they hold each other accountable. She explained that she never had a partner who was willing to go on an emotional and spiritual journey with her like Bloom. She mentioned that it is challenging because they are facing all the things they might not like about themselves, but at the end of the day, it’s like a never-ending cleanse.
The two of them got engaged in 2019 and welcomed their daughter in 2020.
Katy Perry’s 143 comes out in September 2024.
