Princess Diana is perhaps the most loved member of the family. She was an icon for the people and society prior to her death in 1997. She first wife of King Charles III and the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry. Princess Diana’s social activism and glamor made her an international icon.

While she was known for her fashion, one dress of hers went down in history- her revenge dress. Designed by Christina Stambolian, the Princess wore this form-fitting, off-the-shoulder black number to a party at London’s Serpentine Gallery in 1994. The dress is interpreted to be worn “in revenge” for the televised admission of adultery by her husband, Prince Charles.

Post the death of Princess Diana, the Duke of Sussex allegedly turned to alcohol and drugs to mask his emotions. Considering how the events following her death went, Prince Harry blames his father Prince Charles for the deep anguish he’s felt in later life about the death of his mother Princess Diana, a royal expert has said. Their relationship has been strenuous for a while but it has become even rockier off late as Prince Harry said his dad “cut him off financially”.

“He blamed his father. He felt that Charles should have explained to both him and William exactly how and why the accident had occurred. Years passed and Harry complained he still didn’t understand if his mother had been the victim of an assassination attempt or if it was just a tragic accident.” Said the royal expert, Ingrid Seward.

With all the mystery still surrounding the princess’ death and The Crown covering the same topic this season, it’s no surprise that people are waiting eagerly to see the historical landmark that is this dress.
