We're failing Black women in music if they feel like they have to collaborate with a known abuser in order to chart.

Some fans even criticized Beyoncé for what they allegedly perceive to be mismanagement of her Parkwood Entertainment artists. After Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting Rihanna in 2009, he has been involved in several legal issues. However, Chlöe came under fire for choosing Brown for her new song.
A Brief Background On Chris Brown’s Violent And Abusive Behavior
On the Billboard Hot 100, Chris Brown had an additional top 10 hit in March 2021. Several media sources reported that three months later, the Grammy-winning singer had been accused of striking a woman during an argument at her Los Angeles residence. However, several allegations of violence against women have been leveled against Brown for over a decade.
Besides other women, Brown was reported for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, which was extremely brutal. TMZ published a picture of the former girlfriend’s face after Brown assaulted her the night before the 2009 Grammy Awards. This incident became a poster child for domestic abuse after this high-profile assault incident. Because Brown pled guilty to one count of felony assault for beating Rihanna in 2009, he has found himself in much legal trouble.
Later, in 2017, Karrueche Tran, Brown’s ex-girlfriend obtained a restraining order against him after he allegedly threatened her with violence. Including those two high-profile scenes, several incidents have been reported in which Brown threatened and abused women in the past decade.
