Deadpool & Wolverine has all the hype that a third Deadpool movie is expected to have, if not more. After years of waiting, the third movie featuring the Merc with the Mouth is certainly going to be welcomed with open arms by the cinephiles.
Even so, since some of the Marvel projects released last year did not perform half as well at the box office as they were expected to, some people are a little skeptical about all the hype this new Deadpool movie has.
The uncertainty regarding the film’s quality is understandable. Luckily, an industry insider has recently given an update and it seems like Marvel might finally be able to get out of the critical and commercial slumber it had fallen into.
Deadpool & Wolverine Might Prove to Be A Record-breaking Marvel Movie
Over the years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the largest shared cinematic universe, has proved its potential as a franchise. The franchise hit the jackpot with 2019’s Avengers: Endgame as the film set several impressive records.
Avengers: Endgame became the fastest film to gross $1 billion worldwide and also holds the record for being the second highest-grossing film of all time. Additionally, movies like Black Panther (2018) and Captain Marvel (2019) also proved to be record-breaking.
The Deadpool franchise is also no stranger to record-breaking performance, especially in the R-rated film category. According to insider Joe on X, that trend is going to continue and Marvel is undoubtedly going to be the one benefitting from it. Joe had the chance to watch the first 35 minutes of the film and he has great news for fans.
According to the insider’s claims, the movie has all the charm of a Deadpool movie and more. He has also clarified that the trailers released so far have not given away anything at all, and it could potentially blow viewers’ minds. So, fans can expect to be on one hell of a ride with this particular Marvel film, and the franchise might finally redeem itself with the new records this movie might set.
Deadpool & Wolverine Makers Are Aware That The Movie Has to Do Well
With Hugh Jackman breaking his retirement as Wolverine, Deadpool & Wolverine sees the beloved X-Men character return to the screen. Moreover, he is also seen wearing the comic book-appropriate suit for the first time.
Recently, in an interview with Variety, Shawn Levy and Jackman confirmed that they understood that the movie is under pressure to perform well. The Logan star said:
There’s always pressure, isn’t there? It doesn’t matter what movie you’re doing. In 1999, everyone was like, “You are doing a comic movie?” I had people say to me, “Make sure you booked another film before this thing comes out.” A good movie, whatever the genre, will rise to the surface.
As for how young is too young for someone to watch the first R-rated Marvel movie, Levy said that kids above 3 can watch it, and Ryan Reynolds advised that “anyone in a diaper” better not watch it.
Deadpool & Wolverine will be in theatres from July 26.
