It Took 6 Seasons for Young Sheldon to Justify the Behavior of One of the Show’s Most Vilified Characters
The American coming-of-age CBS sitcom Young Sheldon is a prequel to the television sitcom The Big Bang Theory which was aired for twelve seasons from 2007 to 2019. While The Big Bang Theory follows five major characters who live in Pasadena, California, the spin-off prequel is centered on a young Sheldon Cooper as he grows up with his family in East Texas.
So far, six seasons of Young Sheldon have been released and have managed to entertain people for years. The show has been renewed for a seventh season which has been announced to be the final season of the show. One of the most vilified characters in The Big Bang Theory is Sheldon Cooper’s mother Mary Cooper, but an episode in the sixth season of the prequel series explains her behavior.

Young Sheldon Finally Provides an Explanation for Mary Cooper’s Awful Behavior
Sheldon Cooper was one of the central characters in The Big Bang Theory (TBBT) and he was often visited by his mother Mary Cooper, a regular guest star, during his stay in Pasadena, California. Moreso when he was having some difficulties in the early seasons.
Each time she made an appearance in TBBT, Mary Cooper did not let go of the chance to criticize her late husband Geoge Cooper which shed negative light on the Cooper family. This is proving to be quite contradictory in Young Sheldon as the Cooper patriarch does not appear anything like Mary’s character tries to paint it to be in TBBT.

While the prequel series has created quite a few TBBT plotholes in the past, it has successfully managed to avoid the one about Mary’s behavior. The fifteenth episode of the sixth season of Young Sheldon sees Mary and George discussing their attraction to other people.
During the discussion, Mary admits that she has feelings for Pastor Rob. However, she assures George that she will never act on it. On the other hand, George promises to never cheat on her and proceeds to do exactly the opposite. George’s cheating scandal obviously broke Mary’s heart which resulted in her being bitter about her late husband in TBBT.
Young Sheldon is About to Come to An End
Young Sheldon has been CBS’ best comedy series for years. It premiered as the No. 1 new comedy of the 2017-18 TV season, and after The Big Bang Theory completed its run in 2019, the prequel series took over the spot of the No. 1 comedy in 2019-20. Moreover, it continues to be the No. 1 comedy series for the 2022-23 season.

However, as Sheldon Cooper has grown up into the person that the audience loved in TBBT and the show’s story is coming to a natural end, it is only fair that CBS make the seventh season of Young Sheldon the final season of the show.
On November 14, 2023, Deadline reported that the show is going to conclude with the upcoming season which is set to premiere on February 15, 2024. This season is going to have 14 episodes and will end with a one-hour finale that is going to be released on May 16. Hopefully, it will give the audience and the show the farewell they have been waiting for.
